Redline, you have IMPECCABLE taste, mate!!redline wrote:dont know how it would look with that lovely rear window sticker that sits at the top of my rear screen , I nearly bought that 345 off ebay just for the rear window louvre but that would have obscured the forum sticker, I love old school no matter how tacky (have you seen my xmas lights by the way ? LOL ), still want a set of black centre alloys with silver rims (some old golfs had them ) or mambas, I am getting some redline badges for the front wings ( to go below the volvo ones )and want to replace the little volvo badges with the larger ones used on the boot might squeeze in a 340 and a 1.7 badge as well (better than the stack stickers on the front doors of boy racers cars ) The spots are going to be replaced when I get an original front bumper and a pair of fogs are going under the bumper (why dont I just buy a mk2 escort and have done with it
By the way, the backflash is actually a sticker that spans the width of the rear window in the form of several large pinstripes with 'Volvo' in the middle written in very heavy italics!! But I would LOVE a rear louvre, if anyone has one!! I don't think the eBay car with louvre would fit your car properly, as it was a different rear window (older style) but I may be wrong! I would have definitely bought the car for that alone - if it did fit!
My dad owns a ridiculously eighties' Porsche with the most fantastic black centred/silver polished rimed-alloys! They even have gold Porsche crests in the centre. I have never seen a nicer set of alloys from Porsche, including the awful modern ones... **Can't get enough of eighties excess, myself!!**

that's the trouble with being one of the older members , I was driving in the eighties so really I am just trying to revisit my youth
my first car was a jacked up mk2 cortina( called rappers delight
) i n the lovely saluki bronze colour ford used to do . It had the lot sharp stereo with automatic program search and stop on the cassette , audioline graphic equalizer, brown and beige fur interior, thrush sidepipe exhaust s, alley cat wheels and yes it did have furry dice and a whippy aerial. really I should have kept it standard as it was a rare model with bench seat and column gearchange but even then I flew in the face of bueracracy (see I cant even spell it now LOL)

Wow - that sounds like pure '70's cheese, to me. My first car was a Mini 1275GT (I still own it actually!) in Russet Brown with the huge "MINI 1275GT" stripes down the side - in gold!! With gold Minilite alloys with a diamond-cut polished (silver) rim. And if that didn't already stand out from the crowd, I had the engine built to stage three rally-spec with an OUTRAGEOUSLY loud Maniflow straight through rally exhaust and 36-point adjustable suspension. Went like the wind after that... But still couldn't carry all my uni gear, so bought me first Volvo, a 360 GLT... Oh dear...

For God's sake, he pulled out in front of you! I quite fancy proposing a bill which sees all the 'no win, no fee' ambulance-chasing compensation lawyers blasted off into space!!

tbh its just his insurance that will be hit. apparently he pulled out a way in front? i'm not sure. basically to succeed he has to successfully prove negligence on your part. your insurance will help you avoid the claim where possible

he claims i drove to fast , (I was braking from 30 before I got to the bend where he pulled out ) failed to accord the presence of the claimants vehicle on the road (whatever that means ) failed to brake adequately or at all (check my skidmarks ) and failed to take avoiding action ( I had no where to go ) bearing in mind in clear dry conditions it takes 75 feet to stop from 30mph and the point from where he pulled out to where I hit him was less than 75 feet plus it was raining I had no chance . Have passed it all onto the insurance company to deal with

if that is the case (that he can be proved to be the one who is negligent) then you can claim off him
if its poved taht you were both negligent - you can both claim off each otehres insuracne company
if its poved taht you were both negligent - you can both claim off each otehres insuracne company

Absolutely ridiculous! Hope you get it all sorted mate. I cannot believe how he can even think you're in the wrong, he pulled out infront of you. And as you say, the marks were there to prove things. Also to leave it so long, you think these things are dead and buried, then surprises like this appear. Tell them where to go.........

YAHOO , insurance company have given me a solicitor to fight the case and filed a defence denying liability adding that the claiment was negligent , it further states the claiment , 1) failed to keep a proper lookout, 2) drove into the path of the defendants (thats me ) vehicle , 3) misjudged the space available and 4) failed to accord precedence to the defendants ( me again ) vehicle, which was traveling on a major road.
perhaps not all insurance companies are as bad as others
