I didn't think A539's were that good, not seen any good reviews on them tbh. Although I've never bought a set of 13's so maybe theres a choice limitation?

Are they not? TBH i just pressumed being Yoko's they would be fairly reasonable, plus the tread looks quite cool, but i suppose that is irrelevant if they don't grip for toffee.
As mentioned they use them in Locost racing, my mate was given his by a guy who fixes up Caterhams, and a set of Minilites to go with them the jammy git, so maybe they are only any good on light weight machines?
Anyone got any other recomendations then for tyres?
Now the moment you've all (probably not) been waiting for, for me to divulge my shocking secret of where i found my front splitter. TBH i don't care as it's a perfect fit in length and angles, just needed a small trim for bolts.
It came from
One of these:
A Skoda Favorite of all things, so my Volvo has a bit of Skoda on it

Cue Steve ranting about how it's...
1) A genius car
2) From the pre-VAG era (I think?)
and
3) How that's a 1990 model year, as demonstrated by the seat trim, unique to...
cheers

539's are a good tyre, the motorclub used to use them a lot before they became disco'd. They only take about 10 heat cycles for hardcore racing, but after that they are still good for road use with more grip than most. Other than that, look for RE720's (or at least, their replacement...) and Eagle F1's (or again, their replacement, as they too I've heard a rumour are getting disco'd)

Looks like a 1994 actually
Kinda pre-VW, the original design was but the later ones were built under VW ownership.
Ok, that's enough
You wont get Re720's in 13's, I'd look at the Continental Contact range

I have use 539's on road rallies and they're really good on the dry, but get some mud and game over. We hit both sides of the car within 1/4 mile a few years ago. As with everything it depends on how much you want to spend and what you want them to do. If i had plenty of money I'd stick AO21R on the front, and nankans on the back.

What is use of tyres then?
For gravel:
http://www.rallirengas.fi/sorarenkaat.php
For tarmac (note that there are also wet weather compounds available):
http://www.rallirengas.fi/asfaltti.php
These are also road legal and fit to era of 300 quite well:

Those all are good options if you are looking tyre that is capable for serious motorsports use.
Translated version (just click those tyres at top):

I think I'm the one person in the world who doesn't like T1R's

Useless in the wet compared to F1's, and not quite as good in the dry, and only a fiver different per corner.
888's.... hmmm

They arn't too bad if you get a common size, but the "caution, these tyres will explode below 0deg" sticker scares me

Problem with those 888's is that they certainly don't like from puddle of water.

Well i need to know what tyres are best in 13's, and need to know fast as my lowering bits arived today- Cheers dai.
In response to question, just general road use and maybe the odd track day, just don't like feeling like the back end is on ice!
My mate works in a tyre place and can get Yoko's in 185/60 for around £48 per corner, or he said if i want grip go for Toyo's, which are apparently a road leagal semi slick, which you can get in soft/medium/hard, but around £80 per corner, are these what you guys are talking about?
All i know is my mismatched temporary rear tyres are frikkin leathal in the rain

Rain + Valver = pain man.
Rain + willaims x odd ropey tyres = wooooooah nellie!
Toyos are the bomb, but proxes dont come cheap. if you NEED that kind of sh!t, splash the cash man. If you need anything less, settle for the second best.
But you know all this Mr S.
Call it, fit it, and fling it dude.
