I need TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) and IAT (Intake Air Temperature) but I have not yet looked very much of these, anyway those should not be a problem.

TPS I can get from Volvo 850 or V70 as did these guys:

For TPS almost any sensor will do, it just need to be potentiometer type. Almost same goes with IAT, but I prefer one that will fit into my intake manifold without big modding.

Engine temp sensor is also needed, but because I have one in my car already I will use it.

Easytherm is also nice program to have, it will make new temperature settings for sensors so it is possible to use almost any temp sensor :)

Soon also new version of megasquirt is coming out, it uses old hardware so no need to build another kit, just needed to replace cpu with new one and little adjustment needed to parameters. I really like from design philosphy, it is little like using Linux instead of Windows :D

the programing looks quite complicated, is it real time adjustments? ie can you hold it on a load site and adjust? you cant realy do this with some systems, DTA springs to mind, it makes it hard to map on the dyno. with omex you can hold it on a load site and trim the map number then move to next load site etc makes it very easy :D

You first give engine parameters and program calculates rough base map, then you can fine tune it. It has 8x8 matrix, every slot can be adjusted separately and in realtime while engine is running, you just enter value and hit send to ecu button and there it is. Also it is possible to shift whole map richer or leaner.

I recommend to get MegaTune or MegaTunix and have a look around, it gives little preview what is possible to do. Also Megamanual is quite good, it has lot of stuff that is useful even one has no Megasquirt at all.

Just a quick up date on the engine build, The bottom end is std rebuilt 440 turbo, with the 300 sump and mounts. The head is 440 turbo, but i have ported an polished it, on std valve sizes. This is now all built up on the stand in the garage, with the ancillaries all fitted an ready to go.
As I think I mentioned before, the 440 manifolding (inlet and exhaust), wont go anyware near a 300 engine bay. The turbo goes were the brake master cylinder goes, and the throttle housing ends up in the heater box. OH dear, time to get the grinder out!!
To get round this, I cut the manifold flange off the exhaust manifold ( with a hack saw, NOT recomeded, it took forever!!)
I then got some cast iron arc rods and welded it back together with the manifold the other way up. This puts the turbo at the front of the engine. The outlet flange has been cut off and replaced with a flange I had made to suit the t3 turbo (ex montego) The inlet manifold I made a steel plate to blank the std throttle location. Then cut the other end off, and had a angled alloy tube welded in the hole. Then I cut a cavalier inlet manifold up for it's throttle body and flange. The flange was then welded to the alloy pipe. The cavalier throttle also has the advantage of being twice the size of the volvo one
I then bolted the manifolds to the engine, only to find the exhaust manifold hit the inlet manifold long before it got anyware near the gasket ARSE!! Then had to cut the manifold off the flange again (which now had loads of hard as nails weld all over the bits i was cutting)
and angle it down to clear the inlet and re weld. now its all over and done with and the engine is ready to go in the car as far as possible.
On the management side, I have fitted saab 9000 turbo injectors, and a 4x4 cosworth throttle potentiometer. I have a 2.5 bar map sensor waiting to go, and the omex came with its own coolant and air temp sensors. Now all I have to do is put it in the car and get it running by the 10th of aprill!!!!!!! :340:

good luck with it and again looking forward to meeting you in April, while your about, can I pick your brains ? what twin choke weber would normally be used as a direct replacement for the 1.7 engine , was it a 28/34 like the solex ?

Mick, do the stickers *really* make it go faster?!

of course they do Steve, the thickness of the sticker improves airflow across the rear screen and creates greater downforce , the weight of it also improves stability and makes the rear end less twitchy and the good looks of it make everybody else slow down to read it thus making it look like you are going faster , for my technical findings go to www.whataloadofbull.com
