Our insurance companies are not interested from things like that. Only thing where it shows is MOT and I do have plenty of time before that.

The only thing they ask for is the license plate. It tells them I've got a 2.0 injection engine... They won't see the turbo bolted on it!

Problem with modded cars in here is when something happens, they just look for cheapest and crappiest example being sold with no extras and pay value of that. That's why when something happens, most people strip their car down and take all valuable extras out before the inspector checks the car and the damage. Good thing is that it doesn't matter what do you do with your car. Car's age, model, smog equipments, engine size, safety equipments and the alarm system are the things which count but extra mods are free to be done if you wan't. Of course you could get insurance for your mods also but then the cost would be higher.

I do have fuel leak somewhere, I can smell gasoline, but not see, so it is not in engineroom, but perhaps near fuel tank. My guess is those fuel hoses that connect tank and fuel lines, just need to find how I could reach them.

Maybe under rear seat or from trunk?

Some time has passed, today I made first repairs to car at my house.

So after 2005 I replaced fuel line from tank to engine and smell of petrol seemed to be gone, however I really would like to replace return line too.

2006 I did use car only at summer time, quite a little really.

2007 spring I did start in my new job and I did drove maybe 1000km total, car did spill oil to bonnet and when I did look timing belt it was all wet from oil. Also car did had some trouble running with carb as air pre heating was not installed.
At April 2007 I found out that I really need something that drives until I have time and resources to replace oil seals at front of engine, those were replaced by professionals, but leaked still.

So car stood still at parking lot for about an year, it got mold inside which I tried to remove every time it got it, but still interior does not smell good.
Yesterday we took car into trailer and 160km trip later it found it's way to my garage.

Brakes were rusted and jammed, so getting car into trailer did require some brutal means, for example I needed to tow it out from parking square, even brakes were stuck it did come quite nicely tires squeling when I used trusty workhorse 240 to pull it on tarmac.

Little problem was how to get it into trailer as it really did not liked to go, so I just reversed 240 against it and pushed it to trailer using Volvo's good bumpers to what they were meant to be used.

Some more pushing and pulling with 240 were required at other end too, but finally 360 was safely in garage.

So today I did remove bonnet, radiator and some small not essential parts from it, also oil seals, found out that professionals had not changed one and had not cleaned anything when installing, also they had tried to glue seals to place, so no wonder my timing belt was oil lubricated.

Then I cleaned everthing well, installed new seals and timing belt, some checking and car was good for test start, started on first, no trouble at all, even fuel had been in tank over a year and car had not been started until now, damn that engine sounds good

So now I have some work trips and around mid of summer I have to move all my stuff to new place and after that I can try to make car roadworthy again, should not be too much of hassle really.

Gray seal? After closer inspection that was Volvo original, now when I ask them to replace all seals how come there is still original one?

Those were engine specialists that did change that oil seal, now why on earth they have put some cement into it? Even I know that it won't seal that way.

Jani - is that the cam seal with the goop on it? If so, that's supposed to be there. You need to apply sealant to the front cam bearing cap, either side of the seal, or it leaks. The other favourite mistake is to push the seals in too far. The should be flush with the outside....not in as far as they'll go.

There is metal frame at outside of seal and that should be outside from seals 'nest', afaik. I think it is some sort of goop in that, but it did look that it was installed bit wrong, seal did leak quite well.

I have not checked yet, but I think that I got everything sealed without any goop, however when I get bit more time again, I will do some more thorough wash to engine and there I will remove all gears and timing belt too, then I see also if there is any leaks.

The spring / hoop is supposed to sit inside the rubber seal - on the inside of the outer of the two 'lips'...if that makes sense!

I had the exact same problem - and it was because I had seated the seal too far back, and the oil pressure was trying to blow it inside out. I moved it out, flush with the front face of the head, and all was well Check it isn't damaged, though. I broke two seals before I figured it out

I think spring is ok, with metal I did meant metal structure that is inside rubber, bit difficult to explain

4 weeks or so, until I can get back to car, I try to draw a picture later at evening

I found a pic as I did remember I was meant to draw one
