What are the Finns like?

+15°C. People in Spain put on winter coats and gloves. Finns take a sunbath.

+10°C. French try, with no success, to switch central heating on. Finns plant flowers in their gardens.

+5°C. Italian cars do not start. Finns use cabriolets.

0°C. Distilled water freezes. Vantaa river water gets a bit denser.

-5°C. Californians nearly freeze to death. Finns organise a last barbecue party before winter starts.

-10°C. Brits start heating their houses. Finns put on long-sleeve shirts.

-20°C. Australians escape from Mallorca. Finnish autumn starts.

-30°C. Greeks freeze to death and vanish from the Earth. Finns do laundry indoors.

-40°C. Paris cracks under the cold. Finns queue for hot dogs.

-50°C. Icebears are evacuated from the North Pole. The Finnish Army delays its winter survival training for weak weather.

-60°C. Korvatunturi (home of Santa Claus) freezes. Finns borrow a movie and stay at home.

-70°C. Santa Claus moves to the south. Finns are upset because Koskenkorva cannot be stored outdoors. The Finnish Army starts survival training.

-183°C. Microbes in food die. Finnish cows complain of farmers' cold hands.

-273°C All molecular motion stops. Finns say, "... it's cold today".

-300°C Hell freezes up. Finns win the Eurovisio pop song festival.
Hmm, I believe someone should update that last part, I believe we did won that already and it was not even cold then

-18°C in Aviemore last night. I just drove through, snow was 3 ft deep at the side of the road.

My sister is snowed in. Can't get up their drive so I had to go on a rescue mission to her place South of Loch Ness:

Image

Single track road, all passing places choked with snow, but didn't matter because there was no one else out there. Driving on snow/ice all the way. Didn't dare slide it into corners too much since it was a good few miles walk in the dark to get help if I came off and no phone reception. I loved every minute of it.

Ronnie, those are best kind of roads at winter 340pw

I doubt that good old Nessie will have warm enough clothing for that kind of weather?

It is really funny, you have as much of winter as we up here, no logic can explain that, but in some time 1800-1850 they did skate on ice of Thames river, I believe it have been even colder winters back then

Maybe weather is normalizing for you now

Yeah, but we don't have proper winter tyres like you do!

Coldest winter in 13 years apparently here in the UK. I just hope the North Atlantic drift hasn't switched off otherwise we're in serious trouble :?

We can ship them directly to your door, with fair price

I believe that North Atlantic drift is running just fine, I can still see reading in my temp gauge, surely it would broke down if drift would stop as it would mean ice age for us

I also have noticed that you are lacking one other very essential winter equipment, no make that two:

Getting snow removed from vehicle is forced here by law, so everyone has one of these in car and removing snow is almost daily operation, other end is used to remove ice from windows.

However I prefer this, it is called Murska, which is crushed something, like crushed ice which is jää murskam, eh.

This product has metal edge, which removes ice very easily, no matter how strong ice is this will get it off, unlike some girlie products.

Together these two products will costs perhaps 5 euros, maybe less, Murska does typically cost around 1 euro, good wooden brush can cost even 5 alone, but usually less.

So how many sets you do need? :D

I see, you are indeed needing very urgent assistance with this snow and ice issue, I found that department for transport is not very quick on their actions, must be more than 5 minutes since I mailed list of hand picked elite team which should be send immediately to Finland where they would learn more from snow conditions and equipment needed, I hope they don't make me call the Queen, she would be very unpleased to deal simple matter like this

I did try to see if there are any troubles on roads, but they are telling me that map is taken out because of high usage, I wonder why is that, could it possible be that people are actually trying to get information from the map? Of course that is something unexpected, no one can be prepared for such situation, specially at this time of day when there are very high traffic.

http://www.traffic-england.co.uk/map.as ... rseweather

It is not any better here either, our map service says just Page load error, these hours must be busier that I thought

Oh, that is snow in there, in few hours morning traffic starts and it will be another day of traffic chaos, I believe

all the weather reports say sunny... and erm its night time.. i think there must be some real bad weather coming as they are not telling the truth.
