and my new fuel pump, as the 940 does have a mechanically driven one, or the cam to run the 360 one.
andrew pages wanted 120 quid + vat. ebay, 18quid posted!

Bargin

only issues i can find now is the dizzy on the end of the cam shaft is very near the servo, the main ht lead keeps arc out onto the servo.
and i have to make sure ive put the fly wheel in the right position!

To soon sir, too soon.

engine runs a treat, beautifully smooth. but numb nuts here has fecked somthing up with the clutch.
ive either put the wrong friction plate on, (940 and 360 different?) or its on the wrong way round. either way the feckker is gona have to come out again!

Hopefully you can just drop it a bit and work on it from underneath?

aye that was my plan, but with the dizzy on the camshaft access is really restricted, so ive just lifted it out again, didnt take to long, but light has gone now so ill finish it in the morning!

also got a carb problem, the second jet/tube/flap/acceleratory thing isnt working, as you know its spose to open at about 2/3rds full throttle, but it doesnt open at all... ??
ideally i want a set of dcoes and twin solex's like the rsports did

With carb it is just probably linkage popped off, you can see that from bonnet side, near base of carb 1st barrel flap and axle, then look towards 2nd barrel axle, you should see that rather simple chunks of metal that should be connected with each other so that when you turn the throttle it opens 2nd barrel butterfly.

From here it is part #30 that you should check, turn throttle pulley and see where it is, that way you can see if that 2nd one is just popped off or something else.

yea man do it!

just ordered a clutch, cheapest i could get was 150 for teh full set inc release bearing.
picking it up in the morning

any tips on how to get the engine in? it just doesnt want to go in. i can get it lined up, bolts in, but it ends up with a half inch gap between the casings and the bolts get really stiff.
its not the locating pegs, its somthing else. like the clutch wont engage on the splines....

How are you alligning the clutch mate as a clutch allignment kit makes a world of difference. Dont forget the spigot bearing in the end of the crank either. putting the car in neutral will help with sliding the clutch on too as it allows the box to turn and slide into the clucth splines.

im using the 360 flywheel, friction plate and back plate (driven plate? the odd shapped thing that goes over the back)

the 940 back plate doesnt fit the 360 flywheel as its 5mm to big. iirc
the 940 splines are different, the 940 one ive got is 18 splines, the 360 on is 24. i believe the 240 one will fit but dont quote me on it!

the flywheel itself was dead easy to line up on the back of the engine. cyl 1 at TDC, then the timing blank pointing up, and one at 90' (east)

how easy should the clutch slide onto the splines?
