Hi Tony.
Looks like a nice piece of welding there mate.
I remember doing a car maintanence course once and one of the
nights touched on different types of welding. Goodness, you should have seen my efforts
I thought, don't give up the day job Mark

Its not uncommon for the floor to raise a bit under jacking, the strengthening plate is not really strong enough and bends behind the jacking box section, I have added some C section to mine.

I see you have a hole there, but is that where the floor has bent up? I would just patch that from the inside with a corner section on top , but likley you will find more rust. Putting on a new sill outer skin is not that difficult, its repairing the floor pan and inner sill thats complicated.

Its bent from were the hole is and to the jacking point, ive got it pretty straight now, i was thinking of just wirebrushing the fuck out of it then cutting the bad rust out and some form of zinc primer and then putting a small plate on the inside, and then putting a plate around the jacking point and welding it to the jacking point to add abit of strength? Like i say i dont really want to replace the whole sill and like you say there will be more after abit of digging

Cheers

Hi Mark,

Spray first, then windows!

Working on front right window scuttle at the moment, nearly could have left it but OCD kicked in. Wasn't as bad as the other side.

Major jobs all done, still tidying up, and working on radius arm cup tool.

You are a very brave person. If that was my car I would have shat my pants and walked away crying.I've never fully mastered welding.I cant roller skate either.I'm always in total awe of people who have good welding skills and dont see what I would call terminal rust as a problem. sm11

Just as a side note,if any of you guys are on the retrorides forum there is a guy there who has been welding up a vauxhall victor for a mate of his.He has some amazing welding skills and has taken the time to explain how he does everything and offers lots of tricks of the trade and goes indepth on how to fabricate odd shaped panels from scratch.Well worth a look.If you have trouble finding it I'll try to dig up the link.

Not enough posting going on so I thought I would provide some entertainment. Anybody able to identify this piece I have cut out and repaired?

Something reminds me that that is a inner piece to the bottom windscreen corner. There's a few layers there and it's one of the ends of those layers in the sandwich?

Agreed - I think it's the inner skin in one of the bottom corners of the windscreen, although it's long enough since I had a dash out that I can't work out which corner, or the orientation!

cheers

Nope, I wouldn't be so obvious. It is a piece you can easily see, but not all the time. It did have paint on most of it.

It is cut out along the top and left side of the picture, to be welded back in along same lines.

It's either that Mark or a piece of the tailgate thingy. Not many other places for a seal flange :?

Front of the door step thingy nearside?

More like tailgate, but could not be further away.
