Well good news is that I've got a local garage now! So at some point in the next couple of weeks I'll pop up to Foggy's and bring it back. Classic insurance is looking to be under £150 a year, so cant grumble!
Thought in a spare dry moment today I'd start refurbishing a set of Leo's I picked up a few weeks back, right pain to sand back being quite a few nooks and crannies. There are also 4 indentations in the rim that look to be there from the factory(!). I was thinking of using some chemical metal or something to fill them in, has anyone had any experience with this?
Hi Steve.
That chemical metal is good stuff. My GLS popped a core plug duing the big freeze.
Once i got a new one in {bloody awful job},their was still a little weep coming from
the block.I got some of that chemical metal stuff from work, mixed it up and that
solved the problem.
Cheers Mark.
This'll look sweet on the Leos dude, whats the plan? Just give them a nice refresh in silver or what? IMO I personally wouldn't bother with the hassle of trying to remove the indents for how small they seem but if your adament the chemical metal is good!
Yeah, just a refresh in silver... I'd quite like to see an anthracite set, but not for this car - it's too nice to have anything other than factory look kinda stuff really.
Thanks for the reassurance on the chemical metal Mark, I'll probably give it a go and sand it back flush with the wheel rim, and hope it doesn't crack when painted!
Well I just bought insurance... Footman James came up with an amazing deal, £127.50 for the year, comprehensive and limited to 6k miles. Can't grumble! I tried Lancaster Insurance and they quoted £799... ermm, think I'll pass.
I'm with FJ too, I've never worked out how they calculated the premium - "spin the wheel"? Renewal this month - £100.20 (okay, so there was a card charge of £1.50 on top of that), three cars, comp, unlimited miles. Bananas, but YMMV.
It has indeed! Cheers mate, hope you weren't too late for your evening outing...
A pic from yesterday:
Went back up to Lincoln to pick it up after insurance/tax sorted... started first time as if it had been sat overnight, brakes were a bit crap for a mile or two... drove home beautifully and only took 1hr35mins, a chavved up Corsa moved over for me on the A46 too coming off a roundabout...
Strangely it's hesitancy that it occasionally had before February has gone... pulls like a train (relatively!) from low rpm
I wish I'd realised how good that picture was gonna be and exposed the sky properly... oh well! Turns out the old units make a nice photographic backdrop!
Phots now required of it on Leos with front fogs and the rear spoiler - make it so!

There should be some kind of machine where you just put your wheel, press the button and next morning wheel would be ready for painting, I would pay at least 50 from such machine
