VND if you have running issues, try to put hot air pickup tube there, with damp weather carb can try to ice, tube will help, even if there is no that metal air pickup on exhaust manifold, attaching tube there with steel wire and cutting 'bottom' of tube out for 10cm length or so should provide some help, but if there are no issues, don't fiddle with it, with some cars there can be issues when pickup is in there, fillthyjohn probably knows better

I think that oversize black mudflaps might look nice at front

^^^ That's something I've never seen, though I've mostly had carb cars either with standard airboxes. And my 340 with twin carbs and no filters, though that was summer.
