Is there any differences from the 1,8 to the 2,0l? Why are they not as common as a swamp?

How much do an 1,8 weights?

later 2.0 units on the meganes and such are not as common a swap as they dont run a distributor. The 1.8 is just much easier to find over here but a williams 2.0 will drop in exactly the same!!

Are they EDIS (i.e. coil packs) or coil-on-plug? Surely that's a good thing, apart from that I've heard the French stuff eats coil packs for a living.

cheers

I had to help fix a Megane coupe (old shape...X plate?) the other week...that was coil-on-plug (and said devices had gone 'weak'). Which engine was that? I think it was a 1.8. Definitely 16v.

cheers

Will be a 2 litre Megane. Its an F7R same as the Clio Williams but the head is different. Its better than the Williams F7R head, but to use it on the Clio you either have to convert to different EFi or bore a hole in the head for the standard distributor.

hi. could you tell me the same too. i'm from ireland and i learnt to drive in volvos (the family has had 2 360 glts, 940 turbo and an 850 glt 20v), although i am an out and out vw nut (currently building a mk1golf 20vt), i just want to build something different and wonderful and something to shock the boy racers over here and to rekindle the volvo love affair.

I believe it goes something like this...

Mechanicals are easy - the longblock pretty much bolts in. You may have to swap a few things like the sump pan.
The electronics will depend on which donor car you're using, but may require some careful thought.

cheers

May have been the 2.0 16V 'IDE', which uses a version of the F4R engine.

Some updated Engine pics. Looking fairly clean after a good wash. I am about to reroute the filter and change the induction side of things a little so thought i would post some updated pics of engine. Note colour coded strut brace.

I do like the strut brace mate, as much as I'll wind you up about being rice when I see you, there's some awesome work in your car, I wish I could do some of the engineering you do!
