Astral tweek's has had heart failure!!!, her 8v lump could not cope anymore, followed by a partial recovery, and then heart failure again, and then after days of me and MCHUDD working at her, her heart finally stopped beating and she came to her resting place in my already overcrowded driveway,
and i bought a daily hack for transport!,
It still may be possible to fix the renault engine, with a bit of time and some effort
or
A$traL Tw££ks - The hunt for a suitable engine donor car project must begin, and it makes for a more interesting thread anyway,
F7R seems to be the way to go, but it's not exactly insurance friendly or economical for a daily driver!, has anyone ever tried to fit a pinto in a 340??????
also does a 1.6 16V from a megane fit?, just want to consider every option,
ANYONE please feel free to leave a comment!!!!,

Can I just say that my F7R is returning 38MPG? So much for not being efficient
Ok that's motorway, in town I'm getting something between 30 and 35mpg.
If you're a bit more obsessed about money, how about getting a diesel in there? 1.9 TD from a volvo s40?

The F7R is significantly more efficiant than a pinto could ever be
Just run it on stock management, not carbs, and you'll be fine

What actually broke on the engine? I'd be interested to know, the reno engine is sturdy as hell.

timing belt fail, followed by head gasket fail, followed by fixed timing belt and head gasket followed by core plug fail, followed by me and MCHUDDS successful efforts to repair core plug, followed by timing fail, followed by bent valve in engine.
it is fixable with a bit of time and effort, but!
I think i can achieve more alot more with the 340 as a project car now, and a daily beater to do the miles i need to do in work, so F7R with no carbs sound's good, though i have not sourced an engine as yet.
i will post pics here of the daily i got, i was laughing all the way home with it, it was the cheapest thing i could afford, and you will laugh too, i will get pics shortly, it's green, yuck!, i hate green, well most of it is

I have a strong B20 engine from a 400 if your interested 120BHP renault 8v. Came from my mums rotten 440. Really strong engine. I have complete loom and ECU. And from memory its a very similar engine management system to the 16v so i'm sure i could help with fathoming the loom out.
If your interested in the engine etc drop me a PM.

What on eath has been done that that boring travel from A to B car to make it look that?
Quite horrible looking thing, but if it does it's job it is fine (says guy who has holes at sills enough large to put fist trough).

It's certainly not as pretty to look at as A$tral Tweek's but she is safely tucked away as a future investment
