I have to say it is a little more involved than I thought. (Albeit fairly straight forward for a none OE conversion).

I wasn't aware that any dizzy/crank sensor modifications had to be made!

As for the fuel lines, good point! 8mm lines will be required, overlooked that. The sensible thing to do would be to change the tank for a 360 injection one like you are, but I REALLY don't fancy dropping the tank. It looks a twat of a job lol. Unless it's not really so bad?

I was hoping to run the in-line pump from the 940. My mate has a 2.3 Turbo 940 and he says it is in-line. We shall see lol.

The flywheel info is interesting. I don't want to buy Megasquirt, so would like to stick with the OE management. Do you have a pic or link to the early type flat fly?

Oh, one more thing. The water pump required for the B230 (to fit a 360) comes from a B200 and not a B19 I assume?

Not sure modifying the tank in situ is a good idea.

I just removed my old tank today, is actually quite straightforward but alot of 'bits';

-Remove half shafts (use a 3/8 drive + good long socket for the bolts (pref 6 sided) + jemmy bar in the wheel bolts, or handbrake if you still have one...mines fked)
-Remove exhaust+downpipe (hardest bit) (you might get away without removing the down pipe, but it has to come out for the turbo anyway)
-Disconnect gear lever and linkage (V easy)
-Drain the fuel tank using the cross pipe at the bottom (another pipe is helpful as well as plugs when your 5l can gets full!), then remove the pipe.
-Remove driveshaft/Gearbox+diff all together onto a jack (6 bolts then virtually fell out), don't forget to leave the bonnet open as the engine rotates up at the front. Put the trolley jack at the front of the gear box.
-Tank removal is mainly the the pipes (don't forget to remove the breathers) + 2 bolts holding in the straps (again long socket helps)

Your friends 940 may well have an external pump, but it will also have a pre-pump in the tank aswell to get the fuel to the full pump. Later models use just the in-tank 'full' pump. All 940's have a plastic top entry tank, I guess its too dodgy to have connectors at the bottom of a plastic tank. I Just checked the Haynes manual and its says LH2.4 uses 2 pumps but my 95 + 96 B230FTs only have a fuel filter where the external pump goes.

Flywheel's are tricky and I am not that knowledgeable, others will help hopefully or you can search the threads. I asked on volvoforums.co.uk 700/900 section and a guy arrived at the door with one!

I've got a spare sump and oil pump if you don't fancy taking your low mileage B19A apart... the sump might be useful anyway if you intend on getting it tapped for an oil drain (or will you use the engine block boss?).

You'll want a flat flywheel from a 700/early 900 with LH2.4 and an M4x series gearbox ie. pre mid-late 1994, that will have the right ignition timing marks and will fit in the original bellhousing unlike the dual mass heavy piece of crap... Also If you weren't aware Vauxhall Frontera TD intercoolers fit nicely in the front of a 300.

Ride_on I have had a change of planand I am planning to do this over the two weeks I am off work (shortly). I will move my Nissan project to my mates rented garage, but not before we rehouse his mk1 XR2 in Hereford and the 940 temporarily shacks up there whilst I remove its heart lol. So I will have the 360 at home when the work commences, in the dry and relative space. Enough to drop the tank etc etc.

Dropping the tank won't be so bad then if I'm not doing it outside etc lol. I've had most of the required parts off before to weld the diff up. I also had to replace the downpipe a couple of months back after I caught the centre box one too many times and it snapped the DP I know my way around that area now, but I'm not saying it's not a cnut of a job still!

There's gonna be nothing left of the car as I need to replace the leaves and change the front shocks/springs etc. Maybe make larger blocks too. Meh, may as well do it in a oner.


Interesting info on the fuel pump situ. I guess that isn't the end of the world though. Maybe my flywheel search is about to end also...


Steve Cheers mate. I'll bear that in mind. How much would you be after for them? I think I may use the block, but the pump you have could be useful. Unsure as of yet! Good old Frontera IC's eh. They fit ebverything lol. I hadn't considered them tbh. Was thinking of eBay alloy jobs.

Yep compatible with the 360 clutch plate etc, for the lh2.4 management youll have to modify the flywheel sensor mounting on the bellhousing (probably just enlarging one of the threads from memory)

Regarding management i dont know, however they flywheel is off an m-reg 940 that was running lh2.4.

erm duno man, not much very heavy as you would expect i should be able to get it up durham way if needed.
