Right...update...

Route is planned. There are two versions...long / "adventurous", and short / direct.
Adventurous: http://goo.gl/maps/dicl8
Direct: http://goo.gl/maps/EM2b7
Both currently terminate at a nominal point in Whitby. I think the plan will be (as happened last year) to drive to the campsite, set up camp and drop off a few cars, then head into town for dinner.

Booking updates - I have made some reservations!

Saturday Dinner - We're in Whitby...so...FISH AND CHIPS! http://www.whitbyfishandchips.com/index_QS_01.html We have a provisional reservation for 15 people at 7:30pm.
Camping - a site belonging to a pub (evening drinks on Saturday?) in Lythe, just north of Whitby. http://www.lythecc.co.uk Sadly the pods have all gone :( ...but they do still have B&B available at £70 for a double room including breakfast for two. We're also looking at an alternative, which we're hoping to announce tomorrow.
Sunday Dinner - Nice looking pub just down from the motor museum - http://www.the-new-inn.com/ Reservation for 10-15 (some will probably have gone home) for 6:30pm.

I know it's a bit of a cheek given the lack of updates, but if you're planning to attend, can you please post ASAP saying whether you require...
a) Fish & chips in Whitby on the Saturday (and how many places)
b) Somewhere to camp / B&B (and numbers)
c) Dinner on the Sunday, after the motor museum.

I'm going away on Thursday, and will have limited internet access, so I'm going to be on the warpath tomorrow!

cheers

James

I absolutely forgot all about this. Havnt checked the thread since april. Just got a text off Foggy.
I'm not camp enough for camping, but if Im off work, I'll pop down.
Have to check my rosta though.

Oh, and I dont have a Volvo, so I'll be in a chugger.

It's Retro enough to blend it - it will be fine

I'm up for this as previously stated, Unsure on camping as yet - will get back to you ASAP!

Possible to put me down as provisional for camping & fish/chips but not for Sunday meal as I will be at work for 7am on Monday so will have to make tracks really.

Looking forward to it!

Matt.

buc, buc, bwac!

Longest in a day (in recent times) was probably in the 33 yo BB. Colchester - Hitchin - Abingdon - Holyhead (422mi/620km) as part of the 2300mi/3700km Euro trip. I've done (340mi/547km) in a day in the 39 yo DAF 44 estate. I may have done more in a 24 hour period.

The point I'm making is the age of the car is just a number.

Besides me, apparently some crazy Yanks are planning on driving from Glasgow to Colchester in a 30 yo car the day after tomorrow.

Sion, just ignore the Mplax - he's from Neanderthal stock.

Foggy, put Debs & Me down for whale steaks on the Sat. and whatever on the Sun.

I was going to, but the PAS pump has gone on the Vario an I've just seen how far it actually is from me, so I think I'll have to pass, which is a shame. I'll see how things go, I may somehow make it, but it's unlikely this year.
