did it have a semi seized cam?, only reason 2 belts could fail I can think of.

CBA, bad tensioner if used old one and oil leak could also give such 'feature', imo?

The 1.7 renault engine in a 340 has a timing belt as opposed to the 1.4 renault engine in a 340 has a timing chain, which is stronger,

the core plug or freeze plug in the engine block, was emptying out all the antifreeze/coolant when the engine failed

MCHUDD fixed @stral tweeks, by resetting the timing, bought a new fan belt and bobs yer uncle and fanny's yer aunt she started working again, her heart skipping along nicely, sounds better now than ever, now no leaks,
the indestructible volvo's heart resuscitated, bought back to life, i will cherish her forever

Nice one.
When you get tired of the polo, paint it satin black and sell it with extra added scene tax.
You'd probly get enough for an f7p to pop in the 340 man.
Then your slipper trips for the paper would only take half as long.

painted the bonnet of the po - low black pearl, looks half respectible, roof could be next, young uns with burberry caps look at it with respect , kids laugh at it and say 'nice car miste'r'

cars have a terrible habit of going missing here in july and ending up as burnt out barricade fodder, if it happens to the po -low i will be laughing, my precious 340, safe in my drive.

with a new timing belt, new head gasket, fan belt, serviced, water pump overhauled the 340 should be good for another 40k miles,

it was probably unrealistic to do loads of work miles in the 340 to start with, MCHUDD thinks a classic policy less than 3k miles per year is the way to go and i agree with him, and keep my 340 for weekend drives and such like!, wiv the slippers and pipe. thanks for all your comments

I can spot your 83 GLS from a mile off!! with that louvre, i can see it from the end of your street!, always catches my eye!
