As far as I'm aware in the UK, tyre disposal is charged on disposal. From what I gather so far in The Netherlands it's charged on new purchases (as end user). (e.g. no VAT no., no reclaim or something like that). I'm going to buy some tyres from a non-VAT reg source and added to the invoice is a small "tyre disposal" change. Seems odd to me when I've no tyres to dispose of. If it's charged on purchase, can I go on my holidays and dump some tyres back in The Netherlands for nothing so we're even?

Tyre disposal charges
I'm looking for the view from The Netherlands here.

Re: Tyre disposal charges
We have added fee to new tyre too here, but it would not be surprising if we would be charged for old tyres too
Of course you can dump tires when you get new ones, you pay from it in those new tyres
We pay vat also from disposal charge, oh and vat goes up to 23% now too, great.

Re: Tyre disposal charges
I've only seen the fee added on a UK bill for new tyres *only* if I'm giving them my old ones for disposal.
Re: Tyre disposal charges
It is confusing, but if NL charges fee in new tyres, they should not ask any money from old tyres you dispose of, but I think it is best to ask the place you are going to dispose tyres, you will hear if they have some own weird police that can't be found from law book.
I doubt anyone is really interested if old tyres have or not fee paid, when rule came in here it applied to all old tyres too even from those fee was never paid and I could still dispose those old tyres without paying a thing, I think it should be same for NL as it sounds like their system is same as ours in this.
Of course some local member might know if it really is same way as it is here.

Re: Tyre disposal charges
Where I get my tyres from they charge for disposal of your old ones if you leave them, I think it's £1 a tyre. I take my old ones with me. I use my larger truck tyres the to grow stuff in at the allotment as raised beds, and more recently, now I have enough for that I take them to the local council recycling site. You can take maximum of 4 at a time.

Re: Tyre disposal charges
I take it YMMV depending on local authority? When I stayed in Buck County Council area, they used to charge £2.50 per tyre. It was they only thing they charged for. Now though, apparently it's free (according to my mate still in the area) probably because charging was leading to fly-tipping.Hell Driver wrote:You can take maximum of 4 at a time.
I've got no beef paying for disposal (if that's what I'm doing), but it appears so far to be a charge because the seller isn't VAT registered and therefore has to charge it - even on exports. So my grumble would be paying twice (on principle).
Re: Tyre disposal charges
Yes, you can dump them at ONE OF THESE PLACES.macplaxton wrote:If it's charged on purchase, can I go on my holidays and dump some tyres back in The Netherlands for nothing so we're even?
Alternatively, and for added lulz, consider ditching them HERE.
Re: Tyre disposal charges
Dumping tyres to front door of senate? I bet that would be rather expensive

Re: Tyre disposal charges
Yeah it varies, Oxford tip charge £2.50 a tyre and also charge if you arrive with more than 3 bulky items, which includes furniture and tree branches. In contrast Worcester tip has no charges and limits tyres to 4 at a time, charging for tyre disposal is really stupid, there are always tyres dumped just down the road from Oxford tip!macplaxton wrote: I take it YMMV depending on local authority?
