B200/B230 "531" big-valve cylinder head

Post by foggyjames »

Howdy all,

Bit of a long-shot this, but if anyone is looking to build a big-power 8v redblock (300+bhp), this might be just the ticket.

Above 300bhp, you'll need to start looking at the cylinder head. This one has been rebuilt around 2000 miles ago. At the same time, it had larger valves fitted all-round, and was extensively ported. I can confirm the details (valve sizes, extent of the work done at the rebuild, etc) on demand. The plan was to put this on a B230 bottom end with a Holset turbo on the side, and make 400-450bhp...but something came up. It's still not 100% certain...but it is looking quite likely.

Let's start the bidding at £500. It originally cost best part of double that to have it built.

cheers

I wholeheartly agree with you on that.

Very limited market,unfortunately.

Would it fit B19?

You're not wrong....but (surprisingly), it's already provisionally sold. It's a pretty good price for what's been done for it...but it'll only appeal to a very limited number of people.

Yes, it'd fit the B19. There'd be a bit of overhang of the combustion chamber, but there was on the B19 with the standard head anyway (if memory serves correctly....there certainly is on one of the factory combinations).
