Kia Ora peeps

Hey, I'm wondering if any of youse are able to give some rough estimates of cost for supply and shipping some bits and pieces to New Zealand. Either that or a lead on some place able to supply needful bits and willing to ship.

Last time I checked up the price of a cam belt was about $400NZD (that's about 230 quid to you!). there's gotta be a cheaper way!

BTW, that's for a B2000E engine.

For those that aren't familiar with NZ, pretty much anything European (with the exception of Yugos!) is considered a 'premium' car, and the importers/parts suppliers charge like a wounded bull for parts. so,what might be a considered pretty common to in UK/Europe is touted as being more exclusive and up market.

Although, since the relaxing of import restrictions some years back a lot of Beemers and Audis are being imported from Singapore, with the result that every bogan and his dog has one...

No idea of shipping, but third party cam belts are around a tenner to us, proper ones 25-35ish.

No idea if they'd ship to you though bud

Royal Mail Small Packets - 500g = £6.87. (prices http://www.royalmail.com)

Anything over 2kg and then it gets silly. Have a look a http://www.p4d.co.uk for prices on parcels

Items themselves aren't too bad. A cambelt on it's own would be £10 to £15. So perhaps around NZ$ 50.00.

A cambelt kit on the other hand would be maybe £75? plus a bit heavier, so maybe NZ$ 215.00

Then whatever taxes get whacked on when it lands.

Try http://www.braydonmotors.co.uk/ for parts.

For belts, I'd prefer to fit Dayco.

HA! Excellent, thanks for the heads up guys. I suspect this will be the way to go even with the cost of postage. Links now duly bookmarked...

How about all the Antipodean members pooling together for a shipment out?
I know Oppositelock needs bits out to NZ, and kevingenders is resoring so he might need some bits to Oz?
Might save yourselves a bit of cash if everything goes out together?

Just a thought.

MIght be a good idea.........something to think about. I know for me to send a 2KG parcel to NZ via AustraliaPost I'd be looking at 33dollars upwards, obviously cheaper than that anywhere in mainland Oz. I'd be happy to help if people are interested.
