Hi Chaps,
was messing with my 360 glt in the barn, tried to take the fuel filler cap off with the key, and the bloody lock barrel just came out, leaving the cap locked.

So I cleaned the lock in petrol then soaked in wd40, and tried to put it back in to unlock the cap, but it wont open,just slips around!!!

There s plenty of fuel caps for sale on ebay, ( though not petrol blue met ),

So how do I get it off?

Mine used to do the same but worked when you put the barrel back in, I used to not lock it cos of this, but since I put the car back on the road I've been locking it again as it stopped doing it. I'd better watch out for the same happening. Maybe too slippery with WD40 now? Try degreasing the outside of the barrel (and inside the cap) to increase friction so you can turn the key.

If you get stuck, I have a blue metallic filler cap with key in my parts stash. Don't know if it's "petrol blue" though ...
