What is the 1.7 correct idle speed?

Post by Speedy88 »

MOT today, failed on high idle. Fair enough I said, what should it be? The man said it should be whatever the documents on the 340 say it should be, regardless of what engine is in it now. I'm a tiny bit worried though because I can't get the F7R to idle less than 1k. It sits fine at about 1000/1100 though. My mind says it should pass with this but I'm not exactly sure what the correct idle on the 1.7 is? Anyone know?

Blimey so how high was it for them to fail it? I've never heard of that before.

1.5 to 2k, alternating. It threw a wobbly on the morning of the test  Still flew through emissions though, it's now fixed.

The arsey garage failed Fake once for high idle, so I asked them to show me as I knew it was fine. Turned out the f*ckwit didn't realise the choke had to be pushed in as well as out, or he was trying to pull a fast one. Put me off the garage though.

Speedy, come round at some point and we'll see what we can do for yours if it's still being a pain, it took me ages to get my idle sorted to a rock solid 950

Cheers, will do, its not an idle problem as such that I have now but it will sometimes stall coming up to stop. Still going to have a play with the mixture screw and see if it's that
