Brake Upgrades

I have a 86 360 GLT and enjoy 'spirited' driving. On several occasions i have stoped and found flames coming from the pads and glowing discs. I then changed the fluid to dot 4 and also the front alloys to series 1 type for better cooling and while this helped its still not great. Has anyone done an upgrade to vented discs? If so which discs did they use? Also has anyone used 244 calipers for an upgrade? Cheers

Corrado G60 ventilated discs fit's with some work, so I have heard.

I do have Target brake pads, no flames but brakes do fade too much.

I'm busy regarding options for V300 brakes.
As the V400 have the same wheels and so, perhaps the vented discs from a 440/460/480 are fittable?

Furthermore, the brake pads on the Audi 80's series match the pads on the V300, so if anyone finds some cheap high performance Audi 80 brake pads, it might be worth trying to fit those.

Regarding the V400 brakes : check www.europeantuning.com

They have quite nice upgrades for V400 brakes.
Concerning the front axles, these might also fit the 300 series.

240 girling callipers are the cheapest/best upgrade and they bolt straight on with vauxhall carlton vented discs. some 13" wheels wont fit ,but 14's are ok.

There is 236mm disc and 256mm vented disc for Carlton-A, then few ABS and Turbo versions that might have 5-bolt pattern?
Then there is Carlton-B, but I think that those won't fit?

Might be 200 euros upgrade :)

I have sent an email to www.europeantuning.com and they do have special drilled and vented V300 racing brake discs and matching brake pads.
Tomorrow they will send me a bigger mail with a list of all available V300 performance parts.

Thanks for your help guys. The carlton discs sound like an idea. Unfortunately here in australia we never got or have even heard of a vauxhaul carlton. I was speaking to a couple of guys who had 240's and they said they saw a conversion with 240 callipers and honda Prelude (popup headlight model) vented discs. Has anyone heard of this?

There is 3 Prelude models that had popuplights, also 3 different sized discs.

I made a mistake earlier, I mixed Cavalier and Carlton
My excuse is that we got only Opel Omega, in Australia it was Holden Commodore ;)

This is disc that has been used, I think.

Make & Model Year :Carlton 2.0i 82-84
Part Number :D140
Solid/Vented :Vented
No of Bolt Holes :4
Diameter :246
Hub Diameter :126
Height :56
New Thickness :20
Minimum Thickness :19

From Prelude discs closest might be this:
Make & Model Year :2.0 EX (BA4) 88-92
Part Number :D297
Solid/Vented :Vented
No of Bolt Holes :4
Diameter :242
Hub Diameter :136
Height :50
New Thickness :19
Minimum Thickness :17

However confirmation is needed and if Carlton disc with Girling calipers is bolt on, then maybe Prelude discs need more fitting as diameters are quite different?

Oh yes, and we had Omega only from 1986, Maybe it was Opel Record before that as we had Rekord 82--86 and that can't be found from EBC list.
