To weld or not to weld? Diff

Post by linkay » 09 Mar 2011 05:38 pm

I just thaught i would try and get a few of you guys thughts about welding my diff???

Im running a 1989 dl, with a valver motor in it and have been thinking about welding the diff for ages for the  but im worried it will ruin how she drives.

I have spent a good while setting up a set of classicsewede's dampers (epicly good) along with his springs + lowering blocks and pretty much every poly bush you can think of, to get this car really sticking round corners.

Should i weld the diff??????

Weld it and enjoy!

Aside from parking and tight corners you never notice it's there, unless you want it mate.

Non-drifting activities might be harder, also you'll have to be careful not to loose it when you're hooning it around corners. Other than that, go for it

Cheers guys I think I might go for it soon, think it could be a lot of fun :).
I just remembered that I have a spare 1700 gearbox and diff in the shed too so can always swop back.

i just picked up my 1.7 340 last night and the diff is welded on that. its awesome, apart form a bit of skipping at low speeds its grand. parking is ok, not that bad. just sounds bad as the tyres scrape round.
