B200K Issues.

Right, 2.0l 360, pretty sure its a B200K engine.
Anyway, its been off the road for a few weeks now, not broken mechanically just doing some body work.
So, tried to start it up this afternoon and failed basically. The engine refuses to turn over, and upon closer inspection there is no fuel getting to the carb, can see petrol in the fuel filter but there is none in the carb itself, thinking fuel pump, as the filter itself isn't blocked, but how do i check and where would i buy a replacement? If anyone can help me, id be ridiculously greatful.

The second issue is the carb, solex i think... and basically, i hate it, and it leaks around the base plate.
Is there anything about i can use for a replacement or improvement (more power never hurt) Id love a weber or a pair of twins, but ive no idea how viable it is, and im not able to fabricate anything myself so would need something i can put straight on and get to work. Whats my options guys?
Cheers
Steve.

The solex carb is pretty good on the B200K, fairly reliable although people seeing more 'odd' problems nowadays with plastics ageing. It maybe worth fixing.. Check you are getting fuel to the carb by pulling the fuel pipe off at the carb and turning the engine on the starter, fuel should spurt out (obviously take precautions for this). If fuel is getting there then take the carb apart and check the float+valve assembly, it should be open, if not then could be a sticky valve.

You say the engine won't turn over.. do you mean it just won't start? 'Not turning over' usually means the starter isn't working. How are you looking to see there is fuel in the carb? With the engine off you can just pump the accelerator and see fuel squirting into the chamber, if not then it is empty.

Taken the pipe off the fuel pump today, and tried starting it, definately no fuel coming out of the pump, pretty much sorted i thought.
Took the pump off and tried pumping it manually, it pumps, pushing out air but obviously isn't doing the same for fuel. Anything stupid im missing or is this just going to be sorted by a new fuel pump?

I have a Stromberg carb/inlet and nearly new fuel pump as removed from my B19. Wouldn't want much for them. Any use to you mate?

I presume you have fuel getting to the pump. It takes a decent amount of fuel in the tank to get it going, and quite difficult to prime if dry. Try pouring some fuel (a few cc) down the carb throat and getting it started for a few secs... sometimes gets it flowing.

The stromberg carb is a side draft so you need a few more bits to convert it, bit of a backward step IMO.
