4spd.Gearbox

I have a FOTV3 member in Elgin, Scotland, with an immaculate '82' 340 B14 in desperate need of a 4speed gearbox or g/box/diff unit. (he is actually the curator of the Elgin classic car museum but the 300 is his daily driver).

I anyone knows of a suitable unit , preferably "oop north" please contact me.

Hi mac.
I will be changing my mk1 into a five speed in a couple of weeks. There is absolutly nothing wrong
with the four speed, just think it will be better for daily driving.
Unfortunatly for your mate i am in Belfast.

Why does he want to fit another 4 speed when the 5 speed has a better diff ratio to match the 1.4, easier to find and the obvious benefit of another gear??

If he's not in a huge rush for it. Mark's offer might be feasible to transport over and relay up to him.

If that proves tricky I have one here, currently attached to my 343 but I was planning to swap it for a 5 speed anyway. In sunderland.

Thanks for that fj - currently Mark and I are wrestling with the logistics of a Belfast to Elgin transfer.

If it doesn't work out for any reason I'll get back to you - but at the mo I think I'm sorted.
