VOC BKV 2012

I will start this off here as a general item.
I have now put on my "VOC "old fart" hat.
Next year it is hoped that the VOC BKV in June will again be held at Thoresby Hall (Sherwood Forest) - a truly spectacular venue.
As it is the VOCs 50th. anniversary it is further hoped to hold a two day event.(Sat/Sun) It is likely that VOC regional sections will have
their own displays/attractions as well as the usual BKV competition.
I believe this could be a great opportunity for V3M to get involved with a "display/demonstration" of our own, as V3M, as well as VOC.
I am happy to progress/coordinate this if anybody thinks it's worth to persue it. We have a year to plan our involvement (and in fact nothing is yet set in stone on the VOC side)
Please let me have any suggestions/thoughts/dismissals etc.
I have now put my V3M hat back on.
yeah! bloot wibble wibble init.

"V3M's guide to remanufacturing/resourcing every part that should be available from Volvo, a display of interest to 300, 400 and S/V40 owners."
I'll be less bitter again soon

I like the idea Mac, infact, whilst I was being sarcastic above it might not be such a silly theme for a stand?

I think it would be a great idea, there are some great cars on this forum, something different to what others have done with volvos. Be great to show it off

Not silly at all Chris - how we as a small section of Volvo owners go about sourcing parts would be of great interest.
There are indeed some great cars here Evoman - the VOC should cover ALL volvos - perhaps a couple of really nice cars prepared for drifting could be displayed.
(as a card carrying old fart drifting is not my scene - but drifters with 300s are still volvo owners - and all owners should come together).
As I said we have a year to prepare - and get as many people involved as possible.
Mac.

I'd be willing to put my car up as a "drifter" not that it's used for that exactly but it has all the hallmarks of one. Plus old farts seem to like it too

But I'm sure people from other model classes would be interested to see "how it's done".

Id be willing to put mine in as a shitter. (not sure much of the VOC membership have ever seen an eightis car with rust, bent panels AND an owners club badge.)

I don't know if I can be any use of, but I can use power point at least, so if you need some of such things made I'm happy to help, just be early, because of my job it can sometimes be that it takes bit time to make things happen.
If postage would be any humane amount, I could even donate a laptop to run on stand, but I'm afraid postage kills the idea, I have bunch of old junk that is still usable as displaying presentations etc.
This distance is sometimes bit of a killer.

Hi lads.
Speaking as a new Old Fart. I would be up for this. As i have plenty of notice i might even make the trip
to the mainland and meet some of you 300 experts.I love old volvos,so being a VOC member and a V3M member hold no difference for me.
I might even buy a drifter a pint

I will see how it goes.
Cheers Mark.

We should definitely do the "Here's us making parts that Volvo should still be making" stand thing. Absolutely. Don't let them bask in the glory of how long their cars last when they're not putting any effort in.
cheers

OK people!
VOC BKV 16th. and 17th. June 2012 officially a 2 day event at Thoresby Hall, Nr Ollerton, Notts. NG22 9WH
I would like V3M involved, especially on the Saturday (Sunday will be the "traditional" BKV competition).
I am currently proposing "we" produce
1. A (static) display of 300s in motorsport and have a well built drift car, classic rally, etc. on our "stand".
2. A display about the remanufacture of parts.
3. A demonstration of repair techniques - e.g. Helicoils
I would like more ideas !!!! Anything interesting - not necessarily car based.
Currently the general feeling is that all VOC are bearded old farts (guilty as charged) and all V3M are scruffy, lunatic drivers, with rusty cars (Chris, guilty ???)
Here is the chance to prove both sides wrong.
If this is to happen I am going to need help and a commitment. We have 8 months + to organise and anybody who is interested can get involved.
Thoresby Hall is a hotel but is very expensive. Camping and caravanning is on site, and cheaper hotels are nearby (12 Premier Inns within 25mls and 3 Travelodges within 10)
Nobody gets paid for this but I will try for fuel costs of "display" cars (if it means happening or not I'll guarantee fuel out of my own pocket)
Apart from display material we'll need such things as "gazebo" type tents, possibly a generator, people to man the displays, and no doubt lots more
that I hope you out there will think of.
I'm pushing for all the VOC sections to have their own displays - V3M can do better!!
The big question now is - DO WE DO THIS ??? I can;t decide for you - V3M must want to do this (if you don't, we stop the idea now, with no harm done) if you do
then, FANTASTIC, and let's get started.
