MT clutchcable/pedalbox changeover

any ideas wich year the new pedalbox was introduced?

i'm converting a '81 343 CVT into a manual using a '88 340 for parts and found out that the pedalbox design has changed.
this ment you can't fit the clutchpedal of the early box to the new one, and vice versa. however; the new clutchpedal can be adapted to fit the older pedalbox

makes a hellotta difference in hours from swapping pedals to removing dash and steering collumn, and then swapping the entire pedalbox....

i noticed that the early pedalbox has a 10mm hole for the clutch cable, whereas the later pedalbox has a 18mm hole wich made me think that the when the new pedalbox was intruduced they also used another clutchcable. any thoughts on this? or on when the changeover took place?

I'm currently dismantling the '84 360 GLS for possible parts to donate for the '80 343 2.3 conversion. Not quite got to peddle box bit yet! I'm yet to look into the changes on this and what can be swapped for better/newer parts. I'm at the running between cars stage, comparing stuff to see whats useful. I'll have a look, just off out the the garage to pack up anyway!

aah just found it,

changover was at the end of modelyear 81 so all cars from modelyear 82 and on have the new pedalbox.

they've even listed what changed: the pedals are a bit closer to eachother and the clutch operates easyer. both of these are very true as the pivot point to the cable mount of the old clutch pedal is slightly longer so you need a bit more force to engage it
