Gearbox mounts and hens' teeth

The garage say that my gearbox mounts are knackered and unobtainable so I proudly gave them some spare ones I had bought a few years ago. However the garage now say they are the wrong part. Does anyone have the volvo part number for the correct items so that I can google for them... Many thanks, bogbasic.

360 mounts are NLA. Do you have the wrong type or is it just the wrong side (brackets are handed)? Also is it the bracket or the bush?

I've got a bracket spare, but its a bit knackered, going to try Al welding at some point.

Hello, its the bushes I need. The garage man says they are in two parts. Just curious if they differ from those on a 340. Thanks.

Hello, they don't look quite the right part to me, perhaps others can confirm?

Look like rear engine mounts to me. Could be wrong.

I think the problem here may well be that motorfactors are wrongly assuming the bellhousing is the gearbox, because that's where the gearbox is on most RWD cars.

Yeah, I think they mean 'clutch housing mounts' where most other cars have their gearboxes!

360 bush = 298 491

Its an oval shape that looks like it might fit in the 340 mount spot (covered with a blanking plate on the 360), but the whole thing is 5-10mm too big, so a 340 one is going to be too small.

If the bushes are shot the bad news is the aluminium bracket is probably quite bad with holes in it due to steel/aluminum galnavinc corrosion, mot inspectors won't like it. The good news is that it still strong snough in the right areas so you might fill it to make it look ok, but best to Al weld it if possible.

Thanks for that. I'll look at the brackets but the rubber sounds like a job for Sikaflex.

Yeah, just because 360's share engine mounts with 2's and 7's the gearbox mounts are completely different.

I can't be of much help supplying mount BogBasic, but if you have 340 gearbox mounts instead of 360 ones I'd be interested to buy them from you?

Although solid mounts are a bad idea on the engine, would they suit the gearbox? Mine deffo need doing but I'd much rather chuck a metal spacer in there instead.

Of course, and you could have a 340 to go with them, when I have fixed the 360!! Trouble is the 340 is the only reliable car I have right now.

Haha, ok, sorry, I thought you said you'd bought some mounts as spare and wondered if you'd bought 340 ones for your 360.

I do have some new mounts that I bought for a 340 from volvovince on ebay a while back. Until this week I assumed that they would do for 360 but now it seems they won't, so potentially they are up for grabs. I am also thinking that maybe they can be adapted for the 360 with some fancy sikaflex moulding work?? Not quite sure if I want to part with them yet till I've seen what I have to do to the 360, but they might be available to a good home soon.

I'd be very dubious of sikaflex tbh, you need all the tensile strength you can get when hanging the gearbox.

Polymax (above) do a nice range of mounts with shear strengths quoted, so maybe look at the old ones and see if something matches? I can't remember the 360 box mount well enough to be too helpful I'm afraid.
