Can someone tell me what this black box is and what the number on it should be for a 1988 360??
I want to get another one due to the box being broken at the base and need to know the right number - its been rubbed off!!
Many thanks, bogbasic.

Naa, isn't the renix the one on the left, not the one where the arrow is pointing to!?

When this is going about a 340 variomatic (as you can see there is a mount for the 4-way vacuum valve) it's probably the tachorelais.
It could also be the relais for the wipers on an ealry model.

Its a special relay, that closes the idle fuel cut off valve, when the revs are above a certain level (about 1400) and the throttle is shut. Its a fuel saving device.
Eg, on cruise, lift off, the fuel cut off activates, stops sucking in excess fuel, until the revs drop off enough, then the carb effectively gets 'switched on' again.
Thing is, I've only ever seen it on 1.4s, I'll look in my 360 book in the morning.

I have one in mine, and the number is 209 472, but mines an 89 340 1.4. I had a quick scan through the haynes, but I cant find it so I have no Idea what it is supposed to do

Piccy from Volvo 1.4 green book, can't find an equiv in the B200 book, sorry.
Sorry its a large one, you'll have to click it and resize it to full size to read the print.
The equiv part number from V*d*s says 3209472 for B14 and 3209542 for the B200
