Need some ideas, I want to replace my daily driver(old shape vectra) for a fast-ish volvo thats not stupid to insure and cheap to run. Dont want to spend any more than a grand. estate or at least 4 doors be nice too as i collect/move lots of parts for the volvo 360. any suggestions? and if so what to look out for?

Post 97 940 imo.
Massive.
2.3turbo. (apart from the Wentworths, which are 2.0t).
Comfy.
Engine and suspension upgrades freely available.
Get one with a slipper and its almost the perfect car.

Suppose that depends on your personal circumstances.
Get some quotes.
my money would be on a 940 being cheaper.

Honestly think you'd get a better 940 for your money than an 850, and you're clearly a man that likes RWD
Insurance will be better on a 940 than an 850 too as they're more 'uncool'

Better getting an LPT as they're very under stressed (3.5psi irc), then raise the boost with a decent MBC and gauge to a safe 12psi and enjoy the mid range torque!
Oh and they're a fair bit bigger than an 850 inside too for loading etc

If I was spending that, itd be on a FSH sub 100k post 97 car with cam belt history and full T&T.
Like
This, but not an auto obviously.
Or
This Which went for £600 not far from me.
For sold thread
Here
You get the idea though. Youll get a good car for that money if you can afford to wait man.
