360 tank strap group buy

I need to get a new tank strap made up, and wondering if anyone else interested. I have one nearly new one for measurement.

Plan is to use a local metal folder, hopefully they can do spot welding aswell, and then get them hot dip galvanised and powder coated in another location. It would be the same as OE but I may leave out the extra bit for the plastic clip for the handbrake cables as these don't really work that well and just put something in for a tie wrap. Or should I go for full original design?

No idea of costs at this point, the gal+coating could be expensive but will get prices and leave it as an option. I'm hoping to do it for say £20 a unit over batches of 10 or 20.

Anyone interested? ..fully finished spec or does anyone want parts and self assembly/self finishing which could be significantly cheaper. Eg I could just sell the folded end for others to source/cut the main part themselves.

Will try to source new sticky foam aswell.

Alternative ideas? Aluminium? Stainless uncoated? would probably prefer to stick with steel, and not do any re-engineering unless someone else is confident it would be ok.

Anyone in NI can collect, could post en mass to a few on the mainland.

Looks like a good idea, I was just thinking that I might need one if I go for the 360 tank in the 343. I recently got a tank and strap from a GLT in a scrap yard and I have the one off the gold 360 to salvage, but that's pretty rusty already. They are something that will be difficult to get soon. Ready made, galvanised and coated would be good, so it could be an off the shelf part for those who need a quick fix.

The breaker I still have had two *very* new ones on it, still had part number stickers from memory. Worth me grabbing to add to your ones to measure up?

Sounds a good idea, i might be interested. Depends how hard they'd be to make myself, will have a look.

just my 2 cents;

if we mount airtanks and fueltanks to trucks at my work, some models use steel straps and they are just straight with the bolts welded to them; when strapping the tank in you bend the straps and done; so in other words maybe you don't have to get them pre-bended at all

Let me have a butchers at the 340 dizzler setup as it's a sort of 360, so I might be interested.

I don't think they come pre-bent anyway (except the sloted end). The steel is pretty floppy, its just flat plate mainly.

They could be hand made, but it would not be as good a result.

Chris, more measurements the better we can average, although its not really critical, probably good to confirm more for measurement error. I'll do up a drawing for the build, won't be to ISO std though:)

That's a very interesting project! Any further development since the start of this thread?

The supplier wasn't really interested. I only needed one and basically hand made it. I left out the middle bit for the handbrake retainer and just put a small hoop on for a tie wrap.

I did get mild steel strips cut by said supplier and can provide these, they are slightly thicker material than the original but I managed to use it OK.
