I can drag it as far as Lincoln (and potentially beyond, depending on timescale) in mid Jan, as I'm working in Edinburgh, and a stop-off in that part of the world is pretty much the law.

Not sure what's happening at the moment, still need to drag the thing to the unit so I can diagnose it properly. By the sounds of it now (immovable even in neutral) it sounds like either a exploded gearbox or diff.

Working from the wheels forwards, likelyhood is it's either a snapped halfshaft (unlikely), diff (moderately likely), box (fairly unlikely) or torque-tube link piece (favourite). If you find out it's the latter, and if it hasn't taken anything else with it (i.e. the splines on the box or TT shaft), I have spares.

Not to mention that when I test drove the car the gearstick would wobble from side-to-side suggesting a really borked box.

Gearstick wobble could be snapped linkage. That's a 360 favourite. I take it you test-drove it before it was immobilised?

So the rear wheels are locked solid? In that case...the diff was probably run dry of oil, and it has welded itself together. Not in the "good" way.

Gear stick wobble being the linkage does sound probable to me, even when i've 'fixed' mine by welding it to the body it wobbles a LOT!

Am interested to see what's gone wrong as i was under the impression that the torque tubes are pretty indestructible without a huge power motor

Nah it won't be expensive. It's worth replacing anything down there anyway as I'll probably be running some big power in the future.

I test drove it before it's current owner got hold of it.

Diff I thought of yes but I'm assured that it probably isn't that. Probably is then It's alright, I'll tear it all to pieces and find the culprit. Can't wait to get started

Just a last quiry, I've got 2 but they're a little further than I can afford to travel this month. So anything nearer to Bristol is good. If not, I know a roadtrip is in order
