Auto to Manual conversion

Hi all, i've tried to search this but all my keywords didnt bring anything up. How hard is it to take out the CVT and put in a normal 4/5 speed box? Is it simply unbolt the CVT and bolt in the g/box or is there fabrication required? I understand theres things you have to do/take out under the bonnet as well that go with the CVT but is it much work? I havent got the car yet so dont need the "keep the cvt" side of things as i know you all love them

Just trying to find out how to swap it all over. Would it be easier to swap out the engine/transmission from the auto for an engine/transmission from a 1400 manual, would that make things faster/easier?

Granted, it's not all in the one place.
Think deeper at the differences, it's not just a gearbox swap
Transmission assembly, propshaft, bellhousing, clutch, flywheel, pedal box, vacuum stuff, gear change linkages. Time effort and potential insurance ball-ache, because the end result isn't a 1.4 manual but a 1.4 auto that's been converted.

Ahh pedal box, see i knew i'd missed something

Looks like its a littttttle bit more complicated than i thought, just an idea though

pedal box can stay, since the first manual transmission (MY79) the pedalboxes got clutch pedal preperations, if you have a car before that you do have to swap the pedal box. you only have to bolt a clutch pedal in and connect the cable.
if you're converting a 343 or 345 to manual the clutchpedal is different though! but a later pedal can be modified to fit.

DAF 30 series /44/55 have hulking great swing arms at the back on coil springs. Transverse leaf up front, except the 55 which is torsion bar. 66 has torsion bar front and leaf sprung rear.

Is that DAF spec with independent suspension and independent drive units? Looks fun!

Yes, up to the 55, no diff, belt drives each wheel. Great in snow as it behaves like a LSD
