Mine were imperial, the brake fittings on the car are one of the list of things that still are imperial.

As to which imperial...

I would have thought metric, since the DAF 66s were all metric in the brake department, even the UK Lockheed servo and rear brakes (unless someone had been "at it")

Fake has had imperial fittings on *all* hard brake lines, I don't run standard flexi's so it's not fair for me to say whats on those. She also had out the factory imperials on seatbelts (natch) as well as obvious things like clutch diameters/splines, drum sizes etc.

Fair enough, must have had something of a vested interest in flogging imperial fasteners at the main stealers.

a dual 10 and 11mm brake spanner should cover most jobs. Plus 14+15mm for the hoses.

Well if it's old money then a 7/16" AF and 9/16" AF would be handy.

Just tried a normal spanner on it and its 11mm. Can you use a normal spanner to undo it or is it best to use an actual open ended brake spanner?...

Depends how stiff, but usually a 2/3 sided hex brake spanner is needed. A normal C spanner tends to bend and round off the corners. If you wreck them, you can use mole grips, but the nut needs replaced.

Thanks, I will get the correct Draper 11mm open ended brake spanner which is £4.65 at my local Kevin Coopers Motor Factors. Its more hassle than necessary to me rounding off the nuts, I'd rather do it correctly...
