Its coming home! Now with PICS

Post by Jaspersilus »

Hi,
some of you may remember about this time in 2009 I did my first post about my 360 GLT that had been sat in a barn for 9 years, well its been 12 years now and due to my new house ( I have a drive now ) its leaving the barn and tomorrow ( on a recovery truck ) its coming home! :D

I will take some pics of the move for those who may be interested, oh the brakes have stopped working due to a fluid leak, looks like its leaking from under the front passenger, but suspect its the brake master cylinder leaking and running out there ( hope so cos just bought a new one ).
Already changed the cylinders and fitted a pair of foggys boot struts, also changed wipers( in 2009, why? its just been sat in a barn ).
Also heavy knock on turning steering wheel, its had this since my dad changed the nearside shocker, dont think he seated the spring properly, also valance in bad shape, rust hole in wheel well, all bushes knackered, engine runs nice though!
But the biggest problem is the plastic lip on the valance, lost one side of it!
Cheers Jason

That's pretty impressive :-)

Bear in mind, your engine oil (and brake fluid) probably consists of 99% water by now ;-)

Cheers

Hi Tom,
actually Tom, its a common misconception that oil is a better lubricant than water, hence why dolphins can swim so fast!

Changed the oil, plugs and filter in 2009 before I started it for the first time in 9 years, first jobs are change engine oil again, new oil, air filters, fuel filter, also exhaust is blowing at a join so will cut old clamp off fit new clamp hopefully this will sort it, looks like the dampers are weeping also, front springs dont look too hot either so will probably change those, also next week my brother is over from Norway with his family so will see if he will change the cambelt with me, its done 60k will tensioner need changing also??????
Thats the easy stuff, also have to cut out and weld ( have no clue ) hole in wheel well, replace all bushes for set of polys, maybe replace some steering parts due to corrosion, no doubt I should expect huge project creep if there are any ( probably many ) unforeseen problems ie terminal rust not yet found!

Oh and if theres anyone around in the Rotherham area, with 300 experiance, who fancies helping me with fault finding ( and rust finding :360: ) I can supply with cups of tea/ beer and bacon sandwiches!

Cheers Jason

Cheers Speedy,
the camera shows its best side! but to be honest sat on the drive it looks pretty bloody good, just praying I dont find any serious rust underneath!
Anyway Ive ordered a Norwegian engineer to have a look, Im flying in him from Oslo on Saturday, just hoping theres enough fuel left so he can fill up his hire car!

It looks good! took me 3 attempts to fill the truck up today at Sainsburys. Didn't have time to Q for 20 minutes as I'm busy with work. I thought it would be quiet by 9pm....wrong!
