Can't believe I've broken another one.

Must have no cracks please, I bought one in the past that had cracks and it broke fairly quickly.

This needs to be something that we look into sorting, pronto, it's an MOT failure area that we can't get parts for.

Save the old one dude please. I'm not promising I can get onto it, but one of us will have to.

Will do. It's a shame they made them out of monkey metal.

Christ, need to treat mine with more respect then! Didn't know they were that easy to break, unless Mark is epically strong. He's a thin guy, but looks can be deceiving!!

i'm currently looking into these, for now i plan to do something on exchange basis so in the end only the lock barrels have to be swapped over and you get a fresly painted unit with a newly fabricated stainless steel handle in return; this might get slightly more complicated for the UK and european market so i'm all open for ideas

I have been looking into resin casting the handle the past few days. If you want to supply stainless bits I don't mind doing assembly over here to save shipping big bits bud?

Yet again, its great that effort is going in, it is exactly what I think our scene is about

well,, made some progress today in swapping a handle into the casing and good news!!! i can reproduce stainless handles in a way that you can mount them yourself, all you need is a grinder really to take the old one out. new one is simply mounted with bolts that keep the pivoting areas of the handle intact so it's a proper long lasting solution!

check out this topic on V3C for some pics, the first pic is the parts that will be reproduced and the last pic to the right is a casing with another handle swapped into it by the above method. http://forum.volvo300club.nl/showthread ... post199387

pricewise i'm thinking around €25 for each handle and around €75 for a powdercoated casing with handle assembled (excl shipping!); that last bit is probably a bit difficult for the UK market as it requires shipping the old ones first etc.. for the price of the basic handle it depends on what the lasercutter will charge for the parts and that probably depends on the demand..

Maybe the answer for the UK would be to order "handles" in qty. from you Anjo - helping to up the numbers for the lasercutter but to set up an exchange/refurbish service here.

What I wouldn't want to do is "kill" any returns you make from the actual rebuilds though.
