Do 340 fuel gauges take a while to get going or should they move straight away on ignition. mine crawls its way to the amount in the tank typically taking 5 minutes. if this is not right could the gauge be replaced with a 360 one even tho they have different tank capacities (i think)?

No they are all like that!! They tend to move quicker the more you have in the tank. No point swapping for a 360 one as they are exactly the same!!

Well, 300 fuel gauges aren't super quick, but get moving just after the key is turned. Mine usually takes 20 seconds or so to nearly reach the correct level, then once in motion the movement helps it get the correct level. 5 minutes doesn't douns right. The gauges should all be the same, it's the sendor that would be different between the 300's AFAIK. Which leads me on to the possibility that it is that rather than the gauge. Possibly something faultly in the tank for reading the fuel level? Not my area of knowledge sadly, but at a guess. Worth swapping the gauge if you can easily get hold of one though and go from there.

oh good, thought mine was being difficult. i though it went faster when there was more in the tank, it doesnt really bother moving if theres a quarter or less in it...........

I'v swapped the enitire dash with a 360 (have a 340gl), and the fuel-gauge is not correct. I think it's becouse the 340 only got a 45liter tank, and the 360 got 60liter. On full tank mine does not goes all the way to the top, and just after a couple of kilometers the gauge goes down to the first of the two "empty-lines". The light in the gauge goes of when there is 15liters left in the tank.

So if your gonna swap gauges be sure that it's gonna fit your fuel-tank.

My fuel gauge won't reach empty position, fuel tank is empty way before that, only when power is switched off it goes to empty position and bit more left of it. When tank is full, it moves indeed faster and when tank is filled first 100-150km it is at rightmost position not moving at all.

Usually tapping dash makes fuel gauge to move a bit, I have disassembeld it and there was nothing wrong, needle moves freely and no bad joints nothing.

Also that low fuel led is not working.

Any ideas where to look solution ?

the fuel gauge delibrately moves slowly so that when you go up a hill it doesnt instantly read low, etc. clever huh?

I'm pretty sure I observed my fuel gauge moving once the key was turned to the ignitiion point one before starting the engine!

My fuel gauge has been stuck on empty for over 12months.
I found out later I did not have a petrol Tank
Had to go to make room for a second lpg tank. At £5-6 per 100miles you cant complain
