pictures of coilovers i gone and done

Post by valman »

hey guys, thought i'd share these - made some coilovers using my own special method. the handling of the car has transformed, can go flat out round a small roundabout at 40 with alot of tire sqeal, has shredded up my tires within 10 minutes on the outer edges haha. and it goes VERY low :D
what do you think?

complete with pillow/spherical bearing top mounts, i can make these camber adjustable, i just cant be arsed atm.

such an improvement over this:

they need some finishing work to make them pretty, but that can wait till the car is off the road.

cheers

Muchos tidy dude! Good job. Can't wait to get mine done, it'll be nice to have the car FINALLY sitting how I want it.

GAZ. Getting them to do mine, and I'll convert to S13 top mounts. I can't weld, and wanted a proper job done of it. Didn't want my welds failing. They come with adjustable dampers too, so it's all good.

Cheers vnd! I'll post a pic later of how the car sits with them, just need to put my "adjustable" blocks into the back now for serious belly scraping which will hopefully sort out the new problem - spinning out is very easy now when initiating but Im pretty sure the rake is responsible for that. It also tested the strength out rather well I manage to plough it into a kerb but it's all very straight still, thank god for high profiles lol. it was very easy before :),
S13 top mounts are a good idea John. I think I will be modifying the turrets too so I have more space for camber adjustment etc plus it will stiffen the front up even more, as the standard items look very flimsy.
EDIT: how it sits, still room to go down, but i dont want wheels catching over every bump

thanks man, its actually very easy to DIY using my method, if anyone wants i can put up a how to guide. alternatively, i could start up an exchange service plus £200 and i can make you them :P but i dont really have all the necessary tools to do it properly

Just the inserts that come with the golf/polo coilovers. I would have thought they would be a bit too weak but they're the perfect balance between comfort and handling. So not too harsh but also far from feeling too soft. Perfect in my opinion but I could be biased I guess. I'll write up a guide now as I need to do it for the main report of my project anyway haha
