Re: Steering lock needed
I had to fix a pensioners car that was attempt to be stolen by scrotes.
Anyway, I'll have a think and rummage. I don't think I have one, but if I do it'll be bulky as who can be bothered to drill out the shear bolts?

Re: Steering lock needed
Looking at this duff lock assembly I have here on the kitchen table...
First up, two bolts (the shear bolt ones) to drill and extract and get the lock assemble off the upper column and upper column support bracket.
Looking at the steering lock assembly, the bottom rectangular cover appears to be slightly crimped down both long sides. There is also a pin nearer the end of the lock barrel which is fitted blindly into a hole. I'm going to investigate further when I've done some heater resistors
Current message is DON'T THROW OLD ONES OUT!

Re: Steering lock needed
I usually tend to remove them, it is not that hard.
Use a hacksaw or a Dremel to cut a slip in the top of the bolts (the end one sees when looking through the windscreen with the lock exposed).
Place a flat screwdriver in the slip, give a small tap and turn the screw so it unscrews.
Makes it easy to reuse the screw and the heads are undamaged!
What year are you looking for Mac, I presume the single key years?
Or is it just the electronics at the rear of the barrel you want?

Hi RJ,
For an 83 340 - the lock/barrel/key assy. Electrics are fine.
It's for an immaculate 340 owned by the elderly curator of the
Elgin Classic Car Museum (one of my "regulars").

Re: Steering lock needed
I have got one that can go, contact me directly if you want Mac.
Only the locking barrel and housing, no electric switch at the back but I can find one of those as well if needed.
It sadly enough comes with only a one key so no spare.

Re: Steering lock needed
I'm sure removing the grub screw to swap electrics shouldn't be a problem.
I need to find a key for the one I'm dismantling here. Just working on getting the key barrel out...
