Does anyone know if there is the option of putting on a bigger twin choke carb on the 1.7 models (Weber conversion?).
Is there a good carb that an bolt straight on or a conversion to get more juice pumped though???

The B18KP in the 400 series uses the same carb with slightly larger jettings, slightly more agressive cam and an ignition map to suit. I'd look hard for a set of those (book ratings are something like 15bhp increase from memory, but worth checking, green books for both the are online (340 here, can't remember where I found the 400 ones now)

Thanks buddy!
I've been looking for one all day, my carbs running shit and rather have it serviced might as well put a bigger one on. Any ideas where i may be able to get one?

Worth an ask on the VOC I guess, in case any one is breaking one. Make sure it's a KP though, not a K.
The cam is common to one of the other engines (I reckon B18F from memory) but I'm not sure if anything else will have a Renix unit, all the fuel injected 400's (as the B18F is) are on a version on Fenix (or turbo's on LH). The jets could be drilled in your stock carb to open them out, the numbers again are in the green books, but the Renix will be the problem in my mind.
Post on the VOC and see where you get. Else it will be scrapyard ninja'ing.

Those are for early redblock engines (the Volvo ones) rather than the Renault based stuff in 340s chap!

Its not a well known way of making extra power though, putting a massive carb on and opening up the manifold might help but tickover air flow will be too low, you need multiple small ports like on twin DCOE's, then a bigger power cam. It will probably still run like crap though. Get to stage 0 before tuning up.
If I was you (like 25 years ago) I would just stick a straight through back box on and enjoy the noise (as I did).
