Talk to Mac, he has the solution.

Replace the cup. Speak to username "mac" on here. Old cup is ground off and new cup is welded on in exactly the same place.

Thanks for the advice chaps, have found a replacement cup from panel specialists and messaged mac, I read about the welding method but it seems a tricky task after consulting a local welder and one that can lead me back to square one if not careful - but oh well, if it works it works! Better than its current immobile and unsafe condition!

Sorted! Fitted now, I have the address of a welder in Birmingham, Westmidlands to add if anyone wish's to use him, here you can see the website and contact him further, only deals with mild steal. Thanks to Mac for supplying the cup.
