b234f on carbs???

Post by cindral »

Hey guys,

Currently building a b234f for my 360. I plan to run it on either bike carbs or twin 45s. With regards to ignition etc, does anyone know if i can use the renix unit of the b200?

Any advice is appreciated, trying to plan my build out as much as possible so it goes smoothly!

cheers :D

You can use the dizzy off a 740 series B230E (k jetronic) and run the iginition module from that. You will not be getting the best from the engine but it will run.

Are you fittig a full B234 or just the head?

16v head onto a late b230ft, will be changing the pistons to rsl high compression pistons. What would be the best way to get the most from the engine?

Cheers

Running the 16V on an FT you pretty much have to be standalone for it to be making what it should I'd suspect. Memory tells me there was never a 16V turbo as stock?

Yeah your right, no 2.3 16v turbo from factory, only came in 2.0 16v turbo. I am trying to build a carbed NA 16v. But i want to make sure its feesable before i start chucking loads of cash at it!

Just tring to figure out the ignition scenario first.

If you are using stock cams, I'd go with whatever the stock 16V had. I have no idea what effect the increase in capacity would have however, so with the money it's going to set you back anyway, would look into something programmable!

There will be no increase in capacity, it will remain 2.3

You could use the renix if you wanted to. The 240 and 740 ignition moduels imo work better but the main thing is that you do away with the silly renix rev limit.

The renix would do to get the engine running but you will loose most of the gain that the 16valve has to offer.

As Chris has also said something programable is the way forward. Mega jolt would do the trick for example.
