1985 'B'-plate 340 (345) DL

Hi folks,

I have been contacted by a lady who is looking to sell this 340 on behalf of her elderly mother. The car is located in Lincoln, so I've been to have a look at it.

It has been dry stored for many years - the last tax disc in it was dated 1998! There are pros and cons to this. On the downside, the brakes are seized, and all the rubber (fuel lines, brake lines, tyres, etc) is likely to be in need of replacement. The major positive is that there is basically no rust worthy of mention on it anywhere. It's extremely clean and straight. The only negative is that the front valance was damaged in a light accident, and replaced with one from a 360 (with foglight cut-outs), but not painted quite correctly. That could do with sorting out, but it's not a big job. From my point of view, it is well worth freshening up the brakes and other bits of rubber to benefit from the clean bodyshell.

It's a 1.4 4-speed 5-door. Mileage is showing circa 70k. Obviously no tax or test, but the owner is realistic about the price. I suggested a starting point of circa £500, but that's not set in stone.

Let me know if you're interested, and I'll make an introduction.

Hi

That looks like a really nice car, and reminds me a lot of my '80 345. If only I had the space........

Judging from the colour, which I think is 207 Dark Blue, and the upholstery it's actually a 1984 model year car, as that colour wasn't available for 1985 model year.

You need to get out more, Sion ;) Yes, I'm pretty sure it's "your" colour, and it has Smiths dials, so on reflection it's almost certainly an 84 MY car.

I'd take it myself and MOT it if I had the space (it's so near, it's almost rude not to...)...but I haven't. :(

cheers

Give the 164 to someone that'll actually get round to fixing it, then you'll have a space :p

Let me know.

Well I can't promise anything, I'm only happy to save as a last resort. I certainly don't need it, and I already have a jam-packed driveway.
