Anyone on here a auto electrician/wireing god?

Post by wiganer31 »

Is there anyone on here that could help with the wireing my b230fk? As you might know from my build thread i tryed to do the wireing myself but it whent wrong and i made a mess of it tbh, i got a mate in who knows abit and we got it running and managed to get some use in this year but was bit of a pain as theres something draing the battery, a few things are bodged and its running 2 keys. Over winter giveing the car abit of a overhall and that includes the wireing but i cant do that myself! Was wondering if anyone on here could come down and help? Obviously You would be sorted out with some cash for your time. Needs either a new loom makeing or repairs to the old one, i did talk to someone on here who said they could make a loom but i forget who it was? Possibley foggy? (weres he been hideing lately?). Like i say i dont expect it it done for free and have use of a large dry unit were i could do some wireing so no working in the freezing rain.

Cheers

Where abouts are you? And do you know what condition the 360 loom and the engine loom are in? (I'm likely not going to be able to get any time and I've a feeling I'm quite a distance away, but with the effort you've put in I'd be up for helping if I can)

Most stuff is not connected to permanent 12V. All you need is a multi-meter, have you any clue about current and voltage measurements? If not I'm sure we can direct you, you don't need an electronics qualification.

If you can measure an unusually high off-current you can usually trace it by unplugging stuff.

Whats with the 2 keys? Is the engine 96-on and has RFID immobiliser, this is very easy to bypass. I can give you very simple instructions, could be related to the current drain if you have the RFID key sitting there permanently as it will drive a relay.

Ive had a poke about with a multi meter but couldnt find anything that seemed out of place, not a clue tbh mate.
The reason for 2 keys is just because of when i fitted the loom i planned on wireing it to run one key but thats when the problems started and i got my mate to help me get it running. He is pretty good with this kinda thing and it had us both stumped, we spent days getting it running probs weeks tbh, and when it was finally running i just said leave it i wanna use it instead of keep working on it. Dont know if it will help but some of the problems wer things like no power to coil, no spark, problems with the grey relay that you need of the 940 loom, alt not outputting any power to the batters. Have got round the problems now but had to bypass wires to the coil and alt. Im not sure if its got an immobiliser really, i think at the time we did wonder as sometimes when we turned the key everything seemed dead

On the 96-on 940, there is a module about 3x3" with about 10 connections including a wire to the aerial loop around key socket. This loop cable has to be short so the module is located near the ingition key. This is the RFID system and the key unlocks it just by being near it and provides power to the coil via an internal relay. It can be easily removed and bypassed.

Not looked at the wireing yet but today wen i was at the unit i got to wondering what this wire was? Looks like its for some sorta sensor to me but has never been connected to anything even when in the 940 Image
Decided to get the multimeter on it and it seems to be makeing 12v when i earth the multimeter in the battery and the other side in that connector

This is the shoddy job i did with the ignition  Image

I've been hiding!

That connector is for the AC compressor, so you can safely ignore it. I *could* take a look at it in theory, but it'd probably need a fair bit of time, and I have a job which demands a lot of mine :( If Dai can help, he's probably better placed than I am, but let me know if you get stuck.

cheers
