1.4 speedo cable wanted!

That's perfect thanks mate, next question how tell if where a smiths or the other one?

I have a rev counter, fuel gauge on the left and temperature gauge on the right if that helps identify it

Hi mate.
Smiths goes up to early 85. After that it was VDO.

As mark says - up to and including 85 yr model = Smiths. 86 yr model on = VDO.

With Smiths the cable is a push fit on the speedo head, With VDO it's a screw twist fitting.

If the tailgate window is held in a rubber seal the instruments will be Smiths, if it's bonded in the car will be 86 on and therefore VDO.

It's nice when cars haven't been messed around with and still have all the correct parts fitted as they left the factory.

Square temp and fuel warning LED is Smiths
Round temp and fuel warning LED is VDO

too, easier to spot than speedo cable fixing when you don't want to change the cable (which, granted, you do, but hey )
