Hi Mark,

is there a part number on the alternator which would make the search a bit easier?

The parts catalogue lists three different alternators for the B14

3292554 to 79
3294011 80 - 81
3283184 82 on ("MkII")

... but I don't know what the exact differences are. Is it the alternator itself which is faulty or are the carbon brushes past their shelf life?

Cheers

Tom

Yeah the pulley comes off easy enough on my 360 ones.

The difference at least with the pre MY82 ones, is the shaft is a lot shorter, whereas after that the shaft is a lot longer, so the pulley isn't in alignment to the rest.

I've got one handy here. If MCHUDD is around later I'll see if I can get it to him as work takes me up this evening.

Oh ye people of little knowledge
3292554 is the earliest version for the Mk1 with a separate voltage regulator.
3294011 is for 79-82 (Mk2) and some late Mk1's and has a built in voltage regulator.
This was used upto ch 609999.
Mk3 starts from 1982 onwards.
3283184 was used on both the Mk3 and Mk4.

3292554 is the earliest version for the MY76-78 with a separate voltage regulator.
Looking carefully at the books, was there originally two different alternators?

a) Ducellier 7550 up to part way through MY78 (up to Ch. 362906) with Ducellier mechanical regulator.
b) SEV Marchal 71230212 for the remainder of MY78 (from Ch. 362907 to Ch. 385807) with Wehrle electronic regulator.

This was used from ch 388000 upto ch 609999.
c) Paris-Rhône A 13R 222
