MOT question.

Dear Honest John. One of my bangers has a thin rust crack in the rear silencer that has been there for a number of years but it seems to keep getting through the MOT, although its had a warning or two. I would like to put a jubilee clip wrap-around patch on it but I fear that if I do this, the MOT tester will fail the car. Am I right or wrong!?

Shouldnt be an issue unless the emmisions are way out ... but if anything a 'leak' will mean less CO's should get to the test equipment
My GLT has the cheapest shittiest centre section, it makes a right racket and has been plastered in tape and sealer .... it was mentioned in the advisories but not a fail..... it failed on rust and light issues
Bodge it up Bog and crack on

AFAIK all that matters is leaks under the car. Any way of sealing it is fine.

Whack some exhaust paste or the tape that looks like thick tin foil on it and job's a good un.
