yes its for a project a friend of mine is working on, and its looking like quite a hard part to find! any suggestions?

It is, or was, possible to get replicas, e.g. on eBay. Anyhow, forewarned is forearmed - the grumpy old men on this forum don't always like the idea of their precious spare early 343 consoles being used as Star Wars props, so the replica route is probably the best way to go, but you never know - lets see what others say....

Replica as in imitation. Might be worth checking out what the 3D printer fraternity can do for you. If you just type 'star wars' in the search box at the top you will find some old posts about it on this forum. I don't really know much about it beyond what I have read here, sorry!!
