Hi all, I've had a Volvo for about 5 months now. Its a Grey 1988 340DL 1.4 3 door. Its in very good condition (although I really need to give it a wash/clean inside and out,) and only got 65,000 miles on the clock.
Have to say I really like this car, but it has a couple of annoyances that I finally have the time/inclination to sort out. I've got a Haynes manual coming from eBay but I'll probably be asking for any hints/tips/knowledge anyone has to help me out.
I'll post more details in the apropriate forum but my biggest project is to (if possible,) replace my 4 speed manual box with a 5 speed.

Hi and welcome! I believe a couple of people on here have done the conversion to a 5 speed gearbox. I can't find the thread in a quick search, but it's on here somewhere.........! The Haynes manual will be useful, but there are many things it misses out for certain models or years, and can be a bit vague. So I hope the forum can help you to enjoy your car.

Oh the potential an 88 340DL 1.4 gives is inspiring!!!!
Oh and a 4-5 speed conversion, is more of a swap!!! it is very simple and few parts needed to do really!!!!

Lots of potential? In what way? Well that has to be a good sign I guess!

I think what adam is suggesting is that with a 5 speed box implant, the basis is there for a big project, Turboed B23ET, new prop, LSD, original Volvo steel wheels, granny blanket on the rear shelf, all original badges, volvo dealers stickers on the rear window... can anybody else smell an evobeater in my dreams?

Actually Dekay i was talking about MY car!!!! Lol!!! Thats what mine started out as!!! Except a 5speed not 4!!!!
