How low do you think a 300 should go when lowering?

depends on the wheels imo. you need to make sure that however low it goes, the wheel size increases so that it doesnt look like you're ending up with tiny wheels

As low as it goes without tires touching wheel arcs etc, same goes with bigger wheels.
And what I mean with not touching wheel arches is that when suspension bottoms wheels turned to max there is still some clearance for small stones, rubber bending and stuff like that.
Yes, my car's suspension bottoms sometimes and I don't have bump stops at front as previous owner had lost one and I did throw one that was left away
I laugh to cars that has big wheels and if one guy goes back seat car is impossible to drive over bumps as tires are scratching wheel arches, that is sooo RICE

Voted 31-40, but agree with jtbo and 5lab.
Lowering should always go with stiffer suspension to prevent bottoming out on every pebble.

I have new stock GLT suspension on my GL and it bottoms out, my home track has this nasty chicane and there is quite big drop too, I can't drive that as fast as I would like because suspension bottoms out and car becames unstable there.

All depends what diriving you are going to do really as rough roads need pleanty of suspension travel.
As you know my 3 is mega low and mega stiff
You do need to match lowering to stiffness or your tyres will rub on bumps.
When going for a big drop you are likely to have body clearance problems too.
With consideration to our roads over 40mm drop is for looks only. You can achieve better handling by stiffer spings and uprated dampers.
Tyres are a big factor in road holding more so tread pattern than width, but obviosly width helps.

Chris, would that be through the extensive lowering work you've carried out!

LOL, or through the knackered suspension? Indeed, it is a lot lower than most.

I'd love to get some shocks that are the same height, maybe another 10mm, but stiffer. Beast was super duper suspension compared. Might be a custom Dai job soon, was ment to be done this summer, but time didn't allow

Nah.. this is the only time of year I have pennies... nice well paid summer placement... it's the living and no income in the other nine months that screws it all up
