Why did the Polish Man cross the road???

Post by Chesh740R »

Well lets put it this way, he didnt get there cos he met Foggy's 360 first!!

Image

So the background to what happened is as follows.

Foggy had stopped by mine after his recent dyno session to stop the night and break up the long journey back to deepest darkest devon.

So we went to the pub, i had a few beers, Foggy kept to the coke, we then trundled into town to grab some food, we'd gone for a cruise around to find the local ricers and show them some 300 Dual Carb goodness but they seemed to all be hiding as it was raining.

So we on our way to a fast food joint, and we were stopped at a set of traffic lights, the lights turned green and we pulled away, at this point a polish guy in white slip on shoes decides to run across the road in front of us.

A bit taken aback by this Foggy slammed on the brakes and hit the horn. Next thing i knew there was an allmighty bang and then there was one leg on the bonnet and i thought he's going under the wheels in a minute.

F U C K was uttered by both of us and we lept out of the car.

The guy was speaking quite loudly and wanting to get up, but his friends were trying to keep him still, I dialled for an ambulance and checked the guy over via the instructions given over the phone along with my limited first aid skills.

The police arrived quite quickly on the scene and closed the road off.

The polish guys friends were all very good and kept say in broken english " look no worries, he's ok, he just wants to go home, it'll all be fine"

Foggy was interviewed by the police for a while, then the ambulance finally turned up some 30mins after the accident and took the chap away, who very luckily seemed to be ok apart from some complaints about his back being sore.

The police have cleared Foggy of the incident, due to the witness statements given by other motorists, but unfortanltey Foggy is now out of pocket as he'll have to pay for the repairs himself as there is basically no chance of claiming the damages back from the guy.

All in all an interesting evening, so take care on them roads.

I was going to ask foggy how the car was running now after we played about with it, looking at the dent, its proberbly running better than the polish bloke will be for a while  Sorry, glad to hear that no one was seriously hurt, shame about the car though, especialy after all of James's hard work to get it as good as it was, I hope the repairs are not too bad mate
Good luck
Iain

glad your both ok , It is ridiculous that someone can do this much damage to a car and not have to pay for it , (unless you go through small claims court ) However it dos look like foggy will have a nice new front valance to hide behind his body kit ( thank feck he hadnt fitted the body kit yet )

well foggs - if you want (and you cant find another) you're more than welcome to the valance off snowey - i'm not sure how easy it'd be to cut it off thou. you might even be able to get that bent the right way - i mean i cant imagine the impact was very hard if it was only a person - perhaps a panel beater could do it for ya?

yeah you will be out of pocket - its just the harsh life of hitting a ped.. unlucky dude :P

What a shame, a new front panel is going to be needed before winning another best 300 at the BKV. Pete already has his name down for my new one so I cant help there. If I get offered another one I shall think of you foggs.

Howdy folks :) It must be said, that was quite unpleasant...

Daylight shows the damage to be less serious than I expected, and it does indeed look like it might be possible to pull it back into shape. Possibly time to start stocking up on panels though...looks like I'll need a wing, valance, front panel, and the piece which goes behind the valance. At least it's not structural...

None of this is going to be too fast, so unless I can fix it up to pass the MOT on thursday, I can see Nessy being pressed into action in a hurry...or I might buy a 440TD...we'll see. Watch this space! :)

We got a 140bhp run from the car, and massive thanks to Husky for battling with my carbs with their unavailable parts! I said to Steve that I was hoping to get an interesting pull out of the car after a few further 'tweaks', but my oil pressure sender decided to start leaking like crazy, so we had to call it a day...plus Iain had already spent hours on the car. There has been a noticable improvement in drivability, albeit not as much as we'd hoped for. It looks like we've hit the limits of how we can tune them without stocks of jets and emulsion tubes being available. We'll fit some new ignition toys, then re-evaluate :) I'll have to give you a call Iain, as there's a little something which needs attention. Huge thanks again to Husky for his work!

cheers

Actually my dealership is clearing a room of old stock to make way for a new garage, apparently it is 90% 300 series body panels.

Doors
Valances
Sills
Tailgates
Bonnets

and so on.....

I might have to communicate with this dealership...I need a number of items from that list...not particularly in connection with this 'incident'...

Just remembered they have a stock of foglights in too, but they are a bit more expensive.

And they can be sent to another dealership too

LOL just noticed your car is the same colour as mine

Unfortunately Mechanical parts are still expensive
