My car might be dead

Post by girlracer »

My car has suffered a mishap this morning i went through a puddle and a d**khead splashed water which went through my grill, therefore my engine has seized but all being well i've got a new 2 litre engine to go in in for the weekend which means i have to drive a petrol car for the next few days. I will let you know how my baby is going on progress wise I hope it's not completely dead!

hmm, i would have thought the radiator would protect against most stuff like that.. do you think waters got sucked into the engine, or the electrics are damp?

DOH! Sorry to hear that. Like Chris says, is is due to the air filter location? It was truly amazing, so good luck with the swap at the weekend. Don't travel too far, that bliming petrol stuff is expensive, sure there is a joke related to petrol, hmmmm, nah, nothing, nope.........

Thanks guys Hugh the engine has seized due to water coming in through the air filter to the intake manifold so when we took the spark plugs out to ease compression water poured out of the spark plugs hole (please no jokes!) as for the electrics the ignition lights are not coming on and the starter is rather f**ked, This bloke stopped for me to come through the puddle but then decided to come through and sprayed water over the bonnet and in through the grill, concerning the engine the donor will be arriving on thursday and has only done 27,000 miles so this shouldnt burn oil like the last one all being well i'll have my baby back soon!

time to move the air filter back/up maybe? performance may take a very very slight hit, but probably worthwhile..

Engine is ready to come out now. I'll lift it out and strip it 2moz. The air filter will be moved when the new manifold goes on. The reason it happened is an oncoming car sprayed water in through the grill. The engine was totally soaked. The cylinders were full of water, I dont think filter location would have made a difference but I'm thinking of hiding it behind the wing.

This is the second time I have fitted a B20F and got it wrong , both times they have fired up strait away. I don't know how I managed that!!

LOL, good stuff, the beast rides again! Take it you did the clutch while you were at it? As it seemed to be slipping a bit the other day. Nice work!

It started slipping about 50,000 miles ago!!
I've had a new clutch on the side for it for a long time now. Because the engine is so clean inside I've also fitted a new rad while things wre apart.

I'll post some pics later.
